Is there anyone here who has direct experience with Reloader 16 and the 6.5 Creedmore cartridge please?
Not a lot of info about
I missed the 130 Bergers but have Lapua Scenar 123gr; Scenar L in 120gr and 136gr to try?

I use 140gr ELD match in Norma Brass.

At the moment I'm using 42.1grs of RL16 and get around 2900fps.

The SD is also quite low as well.

The hottest load I've tried is 43.2grs and there was no pressure signs so could probably go further.

What length barrel please?
Just running initial loads in a 24" Tikka CTR today and have topped out in pressure at 43gr Re16 and 136 Lapua Scenar L? Vo only 2730fps?
This is with Lapua SR primer cases.
Will try Lapua 123 and 120gr L next

In using a 24inch Howa 1500 heavy varmint.

I'll post the velocities from my ladder test on Thursday night when I'm back at the desk.

I'm also using federal 210m primers.

A bit off topic but....

ShaneG I finally got the 6.5 Tikka to the range with some factory ammo...the Federal 140gn at 100y was pretty good in a little reprieve from a gusty crosswind at Belmont SSAA!

@41.8gr avg 2740fps - SD8.3
@42.1gr avg 2760fps - (on 3 shots- 2 didnt register)
@42.5gr avg 2774fps - (only 3 shots registered)
@42.9gr avg 2805 - SD4.3
@43.2gr avg 2823 - SD 2.8

Hey Peter
Try the Fusion if possible as well? It is much cheaper than it used to be as Federal dropped the price last year although the BC is not that great?
I have also tried the Federal 130gr Berger without great results?
It does have approx .140" jump on my Tikka throat? I even pulled some partially to reseat at .010" jump but no joy?

I have just found two very promising results with 120gr Scenar L and 123gr Scenar and Re16!
Next step is try at our first club shoot Sunday week at 300M?
These look like a possible 600M useful load considering velocity and BC?
Should be useful at shorter ranges PRS?

I really questioned the 2900 fps claim? I think I have a "slow" barrel which could speed up after a few 100 rounds however I ran into max pressure with 43.0 gr Re16 and only 2735fps.
This is with Lapua SR brass

I’ve had no great results with the 136 scenar L, 45 through 20 off lands with 2209. Do you have any info on the 2 promising loads you would like to share ?
Cheers

I may be wrong, but would the small primers in the lapua brass, drop the velocity.

I was chatting to a guy at Raglan and he suggested that using magnum primers may offer an extra 50fps over a normal match primer, though I haven't had the chance to test this yet.

Hi bobbyaxe, I see you managed to get the higher 2800+ node in the howa, what would you expect an average group size to be at 300yd compared to the lower velocity charges? I saw groups open up in my howa 26 inch with ar2209/H4350 above 41.7 grains along with pressure signs. Interestingly, I also saw short range groups shrink as the bullet was seated much farther out from lands. I tested out to .210 jump with best groups at .210. Not sure if it was the jump or the actual crush on the powder that helped. The young bloke in at the gunshop in town went the other way in his tests in his creedmoor. He found a very accurate short range load at 37.5 grains ar2209 with 129grain projectiles.

Im interested in fiddling with reloader powder to find a good 600-900 yard load but most group testing ive seen online so far had good velocity but poor groups at 300 yards. Whats your findings on this ? Following this thread with interest.

I have not tested this in the 6.5 CM however from extensive testing in 308 Palma brass i have seen no velocity change between CCI450 magnum; BR4 and S&B SR.
If anything the BR4 gave slightly higher Vo than the 450! The main difference is in ES and BR4 and S&B are both very good.

The main change from LR brass to Palma is that typically Palma requires between .8 and 1.0 gr extra powder than LR brass to equal pressure / velocity.
My main reason to use Palma in 308 is case life and I am getting very low ES.
So with SR available for the 6.5CM I thought I would trial same.

I did not get anything to write home about with 136L either.
Both the 120L and 123 are looking excellent with the Lapua SR brass and Re16.
Briefly tried 2209 but Re16 about 50 fps faster at same pressure!

I am loath to publish the load as it is max in my rifle.

Same load both pills .010 jump.
And with that OAL still fits the CTR magazine!
Give me a call at the shop if you want?

I have tried 2209 and rl 16 in my 6.5 creedmoor custom 24inch stiller actioned rifle and only got 2680 max, and was getting 1moa groups, at max loads but dropped the loads to about 41grs of 2209 and getting..Just over half MOA, still was not happy, ended up trying Winchester 760 and what a huge difference in accuracy!!! I am still getting about 2620fps with 41grs behind a nosler 140gr CC but am now shooting under 1/2 MOA all day, and just decided to go to a friend's farm and shot at 325m and using 41grs of 760 and getting 1.2 inch groups of 5 shots, I really don't think that the creedmoor is designed for speed,and you need to run 120grs projectiles to get 3000fps
