gday all, i have a weaver (straight) base and rings on my rifle and have been put onto a product from the states that uses a built-in adjusting cam(upto 150moa) to eliminate the need for a tapered rail or constant twiddling of scope turrets.
so my question is this, could some-one please advise me if a picatinny mount will fit a weaver rail or vise versa.

so everyone has an idea of what im talking about here is a pic of the rail and clamp set up

Stu Bear,
They will 'fit' but not properly.
Picatinny and Weaver bases are very similar, but are not exactly the same dimensions. So you have to have a Weaver base and rings, or a Picatinny base and rings to suit.
They are not interchangeable.

I was under the impression that the profile is identical but the slot size and spacing is different.

If this is the case, it is usually quite possible to fit scopes to either but it may not be possible to move from one to another without repositioning one band on the scope.

How this fits with your proposed accessory I have no idea but my suspicion is that it will probably be useable. You will need to check.

As a general rant - why anyone would change the Picatinny standard which is almost 100 years old is a mystery.

Also, some manufacturers seem to cut corners (literally) and arrange the clamping to pull down on the very top rather than the top of one V as originally intended. In my opinion its poor practice.
