Sightron new scope purchase

Looking for some feed back from owners of late model Sightron scopes. Last year or so...
I own a couple of Sightrons, 1 in 6x24 bigsky and SIII 8x32.
I phoned a dealer this morning to get a price on a 10x50x60 SIII, and was given a price .. but also verbal warning. They no lobger hold Sightron in stock, due to the high return rate and the very lengthy warranty turn around period.
They were happy to sell me one, but needed first to make me aware.
Has anyone with relatively new Sightrons had issues?

I have two 10x50x60 S111 Sightrons. I've had them for 4 years and they are mounted on a 7mm/284 and a 308. absolutely no problems. I know others who have them and again no problems.
Based on my experiences I would have no issues in buying another one. However, I do like the zero stop on the Nightforce.
Cheers. Cliff

I've done a fair bit of shooting with an SIII Sightron 8-32x56 LRMOA and it is fine.
The eternal problem IMO is that only a scope engineer - i.e. someone who really knows what goes on mechanically inside the various brand scopes - could give us a proper answer to your question.
What really is "Sightron’s unique ExacTrack windage and elevation adjustment system" ?
But say take the Sightron SIII's and the Vortex GE which are both considerably less expensive than many other top scopes and that alone would have me expecting a higher failure rate and/or a lesser optical and mechanical performance ?
If my 2.5k scope failed I would be thinking, without any hesitation that I should have paid 5k to make the problems go away ? I know I would be VERY pissed if my 5k March failed, with normal use ! Sorry about all the waffle, Rob Kerridge.

Thanks for the replys... but you are preaching to the converted on the older Sightrons. As per my original post have 2.
Once again let me highlight what I am after... feed back from people who have bought brand new ones in the last 12 to 18 months. Have they had issues as per my first post.... the dealer has indicated that the new ones are not the same manufacturing quality of the older ones.

Probably best u narrow the question down to a specific model/s of the current Sightron range.
One thing I've noticed now is how some of the leading modern scope manufacturers are flooding the market with a very large range of scopes at various price points. I suspect they are doing this to try and capture a large range of buyers by providing buying choices over such a wide price point range.
Ya don't need to be rocket scientist to start thinking there's probably a bunch of compromises being built into the lower price point scopes. I suspect u wouldn't want to know what goes on inside the really cheap ones.
Sightron is part of this trend.

is a 7mm/284 the same as a 284/284, or a 7mm/7mm?

Pretty sure I once again covered that in my original post as such...
"I phoned a dealer this morning to get a price on a 10x50x60 SIII"
I am really not expecting to see posts about a 3x9x40... this is some what a longer range shooting forum.

What did the dealer recommend. Sometimes they will try to steer you to something they make more money on, or which is easier to obtain.

My SIII 10-50 is around 2 years old. Zero problems and tracks very reliability. Stories about other main brands being returned are well known, but i have never heard of a Sightron target scope being returned

My Sightron SIII 10-50 FAILED. That was about 8 years back. The side parallax knob stripped internally.
When it got replaced ( it was probably not repaired because it was never designed to be a repairable item !!! ) I chose instead an SIII 8-32x56 replacement from the dealer and it has never let me down.
I purchased new a Vortex GE recently and it 'failed'. The elevation was set up wrong internally such that even with about 60 MOA of scope rail angle I could still not get on the paper.

Well I have a 2nd hand Sightron 8-32 advertised as new in the box which is on its way by post now. So hopefully it will be good and put paid to the doubts that have been raised, although not sure how long it has been in the box. I have a 10-50 SIII about 5 years old. The side focus has always been hard to turn, but otherwise a sound scope. Perhaps I can do some preventive maintenance on the side focus internals, but not sure where to start.

I brought a new STAC 2.5-17-56 with ED glass and all last year and had it for 6mths. It was excellent, the whole package. I only had it briefly but it worked beautifully and would get another now for PSR. I only upgraded for an SIII 10-50-60 because it was better suited to F-class.

My 8-32 had its first outing yesterday. First impressions very happy. Its noticeably lighter built than the 10-50 but seems well made (in Japan). Only time will tell, but I feel confident it'll be a "keeper".
