Hi guys and gals im new here. Sorry if this is in the wrong section. Juat over a year ago I bought my first fullbore target rifle. However im not enjoying TR as much as i thought i would and iam leaning towards F std. My rifle is a Barnard P chambered in .308. It has a dave felton adjustable stock. 30inch 1in 12 I beleive bartlein barrel not 100% (Cheek rest, adjustable butt). One off precision adjustable front sight. Tmac rear sight 1/2 increments both windage and elevation. Gehmann 510 iris. Hope i have not missed anything but I'm juat curious as to what its worth or whether im better off converting it to F std. Oh i forgot it has a round count of juat over 1000. Precise number is written down in book.

Hi robbo1990. You would be best off setting that rifle up for F std. A scope rail with 20 minute taper and scope and rings. You could set it up to shoot off a bipod (cheapest option) or a pedestal rest. You would also need a rear sandbag of some type. Other option would be FTR but a 1 in 12 twist barrel wont stabilize the heavier projectiles that some say are necessary in that class. F class std off a bipod would probably be the best option to get started . Regards Malcolm.

Thanks Malcolm i will need a Fstd stock rail rings rear bag and bipod or rest. And obviously scope. What mag scope is needed as a min to get started

Hi Robbo,
Like Malcoln says you will need a 20 Moa rail to get you out to 1000 and rings to suit.
If it is fitted with an Anschultz rail underneath the fore end you will be able to slide your bipod straight in.
A rear bag that suits the width of the of the bottom of your stock Seb, Edgewood etc.
A 32 power scope will do the trick but 50 ish is nicer I run a Sightron 10-50x60.
You still have plenty of life left in your barrel at 1000 rounds and 12 twist will be fine for the 155's.
If cost to buy new is an issue you will see most things you need on this forum.

You'll be able to run 185 jugs down a 1:12 if you want to go FTR. Chamber and twist is suitable.
Saying that the 155s are still competitive in FTR.
That's what the discipline is there for. Drop your target rifle on a bipod and bag and shoot. You don't HAVE to fit a scope.

I have had a few message me asking if im interested in selling the complete. Rifle. It is on the cards so if you messaged me i have replied but since ha e not had a reply in return. Im npt going to put it in the for sale section yet but more than likely will be added in near future

Totally your business if you decide to sell and start again from scratch, but your iron sigjts are quite saleable on their own and, as Tim pointed out, you can still look through them if the rifle is on a bipod and bag.

it takes a lot of practice to get competent and build confidence in TR,your business but i think your giving up way to soon.pity.

Its that im giving up im just not enjoying it as much as i thought i would. My work and having a young family doesnt allow me to put in the time and effort for TR. My grandfather shot TR and would spend every night for hours practising and was at tbe range every weekend. Unfortunatley im un able to do that

dont worry mate,its understandable.at least your not getting out altogether.
