The VRA Council meets tomorrow, so we may know more after that. I believe the Queens will go ahead. It'll fall well short of the 500 person event limit announced by the Govt.

It is also an outdoor event and in most cases the separation distance is at least 1 metre for a short period and greater than 2 metres for the rest of the time. Minimal risk event according to the Govt experts. Good sanitation and sound personal hygiene should keep the campsite safe.

We have just had an event postponed because of this, and one of the statements made, was of the number of older folk who would have participated, and from what I remember, the average age of a sling shooter was 107.

Will be very interesting to see how all this chaos unfolds.

Peter,
ZERO risk would be better. I metre for a few seconds is all it takes.
500 is BS, all it takes is two. Who sanitizes the chalk and score cards, the dunny door etc
The GP was an outdoor event.
Why take the risk?

I would have to agree with barry.
With the age group that are most vulnerable we fit the bill
sometimes we need to be saved from ourselves .

I agree with Barry and trev, but we should be guided by our NRAA medical officer who is not attending due to the risk.
I want to shoot But why add to the risk, only takes one.

The decision by VRA council to postpone is a responsible one. Difficult, disappointing, but highly responsible.
Well done people.

Well, the Rosedale OPM is going ahead this weekend. Our numbers will be slightly reduced because of a few interstate people who would have added ours to their Vic Queens trip. So far no-one has pulled out because of concerns about the virus. I've contacted a few of our regular attendees from around the State and they're coming regardless of the media induced hysteria. It is still very early days with the virus and the chances of any of the attendees being infected are minute. I can understand why the VRA Council decided as they did - it would be a sizeable event and no doubt the virus will be more widespread by early April, and also they have a lot riding on the commercial success of the event.

So if anyone is having second thoughts about coming to Rosedale, be assured that it will require orders from very high places to stop it.

Al a higher power in the form of Daniel Andrews has just declared a state of emergency in Victoria. Its certainly going to add to the hysteria. In the Moe club a few members work in essential services or have spouses that do and if they are forced to self isolate, then there are problems for others. A couple of examples, were brought to my attention. One member works in the control room of a power station. Not too many around to replace him. His absence and that of others there could effect the national grid. Also the missus runs a pathology lab in Gippsland and her absence would create a few problems for others as would another member whose spouse is a casualty nurse. The issue imposed on us has broader implications than you think.

Don't shake hands and keep a safe distance and go on with your life, including shooting.

Apparently a decision will be made by 17 April regarding the Nationals.
