He certainly made his mark in the design of actions - a very accomplished gentleman. RIP Mr Chombart.

I had various eMail conversations with Robert. He would be known here for designing some actions. Also known to TR and Match shooters who have shot in Bisley. I believe Robert led many astray with his potent brew.
But he also had an interesting and varied life.
As a young lad he was a spectator to the WW2 Battle known as the Falaise Pocket as he lived uncomfortably close by back then and saw the depleted remains of the German army pouring through Trun and Chambois and Argentan. If it had been followed up vigorously, this allied victory may have actually ended WW2 in Europe.

RIP Robert Chombart.

The view is from his lounge room overlooking the Falaise valley.
He bought the paddock in front so his view would not be interrupted.
He told me they reclaimed many boxes of military ammunition

Mr Chombart visited our Rifle Club one afternoon, I hope he was pleased to see a couple of Millennium rifles in use in a distant corner of the world.
