So I had one of these built a few months back with the thought of shooting 80.5 Berger Fullbore projectiles off the mound
And 69 gr SMKT for paddock Pizza
The SMKT work fantastically in the paddock But I do not have a load worked out for the 80.5~s
What Powder should I use 2208 or 2209 ? and what charge weight ?
I know barrel life will be short

I wouldn't have a clue but if it helps I know with my 6mm creedmoor shooting light projectiles I use 2208. Same with the 6.5 creedmoor. Mostly use 2209 but shooting lighter projectiles 2208 is a good option. So try either see what works best

In a 22 Creedmoor I didn't even try 2208, I got great velocity and consistency from 2209, 3450-3500 easy in srp lap brass with 75amax 80 smk's 3350+ In hornady LRP brass but not developed yet.

Missed,
check 22creedmore or 22-250AI. Probably 2208 but I'd try 2209 (I use 2209 with 107SMK in my 6x47)
this might help too

I second the use of 2209, I have had good results in my 22 Creedmore with 75 handy &80 gr Berger pills.

Thanks for the replies fellas looks like 2209 is favored so I will start with that
Thanks again for your input.

I use 2213 in my 6x47L with good results. 43g of it with a 108gr pill. So with a 5.56 there would be an even more compelling reason for a slow powder like 2213.

I loaded up 38 grains of 2209 for 3500fps and this seems to work well with the 80.5 grain Bergers
