Handicap system

Before I possibly attempt to reinvent the wheel, is there any club out there that has system/program that successfully creates a handicap that equalises all shooters in a small club across all disciplines? MCSI is very good at equalising the disciplines but i need a system/program that does that and then provides a handicap like there is in golf, bowling and other sports.
Cheers
Peter

I know one club that does it and the good shooters never win, not sure if I agree with it.

There are probably a few different systems around, some more complicated than others. The simple system we use seems to work well with no complaints.
1. Convert all TR scores to an F Class basis by adding V’s to the off rifle score, so 98.09 becomes 107 for handicap purposes.
2. F Class scores remain the same except X’s are ignored, so 116.11 becomes 116 for handicap purposes.
3. The handicap is calculated on the on the possible F Class score of 120 (in the case of two 10 shot stages). So in the example the TR shooter would have 13 handicap (120 less 107), while the F Class shooter’s handicap would be 4 (120 less 116).
4. We take the last 5 scores, disregard the lowest 2 then average the remaining 3. That average is used to calculate the handicap.
5. Equal handicap scores are counted out with the shooter using the least percentage of his handicap the winner.
Hope this helps.

Peter,
For our DRA pennant shoots, we do exactly as you want, (i.e. handicaps over the top of MCSI scores) except that its not computerised. Our club handicaps are computerised (Excel), but are based on percentage of possible points (scores) and shooters have different handicaps for each discipline they shoot.

Goondiwindi Rifle Club handicap system is good for club shoots. The last 5 daily scores, average the highest 3 scores, minus the maximum score.
The shooter scores 126.10,121.5,101.3,124.9,125.6. add 126+125+124+ 375 /3 ,125-126 1 handicap
105.4,101.2,103,104.6,99.5, add 105+103+104+ 312 /3 104-105 1 handicap
