Gday all
I am interested to know what the favorite loads are today with projectile choice and powders for FS
At times I notice some Big scores that have kept up with and sometimes better than the Open boys in the Queens and Kings ,
Been out of it a while and would like to hear , and barrel twist ?
Thanks Chopper

I don't shoot FS, I shoot off a sling. But you've got to be happy with this load at 800m. 43.8g 2206h ADI cases and Sierra projectiles 45 thou jump, Benchmark 11.75 twist.

Yes they seem to be the pick from what I hear But there have been some great results from 2155 as well.

All the 2156 are pointed. That's pretty much the difference between them and the 2155 projectiles.
This is shooting tr as well. Shooting the 2156 with 45.5 of 8208 at .010 jam. Obviously, don't try this load unless you have worked up to it, as it's hootin' at just under 3080fps. I'm just showing that the Sierras do have a high node as well as the slower node that is very popular with 2208.

The 2155 and 2156 are completely different designs, and pointing is the smallest difference.

Oversimplification or using bad information can cost money and scores. Making decisions based on "somebody said it on OzFclass" is a recipe for disaster. Don't take my word for the info below, do your own research.
As Matt says the 2155 and 2156 are completely different bullets.
2155v2156.jpg
2155 on left, 2156 on right
Different OAL, boat tail length, bearing surface length and ogive shape, leads to a superior BC for the 2156 of .237 v's .214 (Applied Ballistics G7)
At a muzzle velocity of 2950 fps, at 1000 yards with a 10mph crosswind:
The 2156 will drift 425mm less and will shoot 770mm higher than the 2155. It will also be about 130 fps faster which may be the difference between triggering an ET or not.
The 2156 will be more finnicky about jump/jam than the 2155

Holy cow, there's a big difference.

I've never used the 2155, but I use the 2156 every weekend.
I was basing my comparison off what I've been told, and I should know better. Thankyou guys for correcting me.
Scott.

I hear a lot are using 2206h now where 2208 was once the choice
there was not much wrong with the good Old 2206 once

I used 2206H and Sierra 2155 projectiles at the 2008 Vets at Bendigo and shot a straight 60 at 1000 yards. (It used to show on this site for a fair while when possibles were being submitted)
Can’t remember what powder weight but I was using PMC magnum primers. Gave up using 2206H as I found that it fouled barrels more frequently.
Nothing wrong with the 2155’s, they were very consistent, easy to waterline the centre so held elevation consistently.
The Sierra 2156 I was using up to my retirement and found that with the right load were just as good as Berger Hybrids.
Been out of the game for 7 years now and definitely miss my range time.

I’m using Lapua brass with Lapua 155 with a load of 46.2 of 2208 and have been getting some great scores dropping 1 or 2 for the whole day (shooters jerky trigger finger I’m sure)
