Looking at the results at Victorian Kings the individual shots are recorded the same as F Class, not Target Rifle, has there been a rule change that I have missed?

Sporter SSRs state scoring is as TR (SSR 4.1.3) unless advertised differently by organising body.
The question is: Did the VRA advertise a variation in the scoring?

Entries are still open if you would like to shoot.

Would moving to f-open scoring be a bad thing as more competitors having “built” guns shooting 50.9 and 50.10 often it might be needed any way.

I'd like to see at least production class maintain TR scoring. Sporter class was introduced as an entry level discipline to encourage people to participate with their existing off-the-shelf rifle. To encourage and develop their interest we need to maintain a scoring system that reflects the entry level intention.

I tend to agree PCO rifles are hardly entry level rifles. PC could/should stay on a 5 ring but PCO rifles could go 6 ring.
Personally, I think both PC and PCO should have no rear bag, otherwise, it's just FTR Open anyway.

Yes that makes sense to leave pc sporter hunter on the tr scoring system and PCO on the open scoring, by the time they are shooting 50.5+ they will have been bitten by the bug and know which route they want to go down even if it is to stay in PC. Funny you say that Tim if there was a Ftr open that’s what I would shoot I think it would be great.

Howdy.

VRA decided this year to run the kings using Fclass scoring. All scores are available on the NRAA website and results were amazing and feedback from shooters was great. Looking at the results Sporter open would have finished 6th in F standard. Amazing shooting.

Also interesting, apart from the winner of SH open, aggregate scores were quite close.

A lot of the guys in Sporter had switch barrel Hardy's which are an easy over 10k rig with glass. I recon it's unfair to allow a heavy palma carbon wrapped 6mm BR barrel in what is ostensibly a custom action with a carbon fiber stock. I thought Sporter was supposed to be an entry level class for people without big budgets to compete. Sure the Hardy meets the rules but I recon it's not in the spirit of the class.

The Chairman of the VRA did an excellent break down of Sporter Results last year from a series of matches. Full stats and figures that showed the justification for moving over to F-Class scoring. It was very good and showed clearly that Sporter needed a change in scoring and it let the numbers speak for themselves, and removed the emotion.

The problem with sporter is the mentality behind it.... It was introduced as a feeder class. It's not anymore. It's a genuine competitive class that is easily accessible to anyone off the street with even a basic rifle. So the point of it isn't necessarily to be easy mode until people choose a different discipline. It needs to be competitive in it's own right. These discussions got complicated at this point.

Money spent doesn't = Skill. I'm reminded of this every time I pull the trigger.... So you can't separate via what a rig costs. But if people get immediately trounced by more experienced shooters who have slipped over to Sporter it might turn some people away. I believe the most apt solution would be A grade and B grade and your grading follows you to different matches as a method of SBMM.

There's no reason I, as someone with a $24,000 Barrett MRAD, should have to go up against someone who can actually shoot.....

Very simple...

"Sporter/Hunter Clubman" - Factory ammo
"Sporter/Hunter Elite" - whatever....

Would this rule for Production Class mean that a switch barrel Hardy would be a PC rifle? What's the definition of 'factory fitted'?

23.3.1 Barrels must be factory fitted, of original equipment manufacturer specification and no more than 66.04 cm (26 inches) in length – not including muzzle brake if fitted.

The classes we already have are fine, some tweaking of PCO is required but we always want more!

As for factory ammo in PC, factory ammo is expensive and very inconsistent with availability?
We are not at Bisley shooting 308s

As long as it meets all the other rules, yes it can be PC.

However, changing one during an aggregate is not allowed as it is 'the rifle' an action can't work without it.

😂😂😂
We need more ways to react to comments.

Those who want to shoot factory ammo, those who want to reload should be able to reload.

We are a very small club so we’ve always shot PC(O) with F class scores.
