Howdy all,
I am wondering what tablets you are using with your E-Target's? I am in the market for a larger screen tablet since our last one died. We tried a jvc unit but the screen doesn't get anywhere near bright enough on a sunny day.

Have a look at the TCL NxtPaper 11 https://www.tcl.com/global/en/tablets/tcl-nxtpaper-11 Currently on sale at Harvey Norman for $298. I haven't used one but on paper they look like they may be alright.

Our club uses Panasonic Tough books with our Kongsberg targets. We got them off E Bay, usually ex government departments surplus stock.

Running 10 inch Samsung Galaxy tablets on Hexta with my club, they work well although you need to keep direct sun off them in summer, they can get a bit hot and shut down for protection.

Have been using Boox E-Reader tablets at my club at Hornsby for sometime now as part of our Hexta setup for the shooter (still use the Hexta 'frogs' for our Master units for the scorer). Absolutely fabulous daylight readability but have a few configuration quirks because they are designed more for reading than a mobile, browsing tablet. The latest generation might be a bit better. The smallest Boox tablets have a very small antenna so we sometimes lose the server signal at the outermost firing points on the mound; no problems with the larger units. And no problems with overheating in direct sun. (We will investigate the TCL units Allan has mentioned above)

Thanks for the info guys, think I will have a look at a samsung unit as the local harvey norman has them in stock.

Mate, the Samsungs come full of bloatware. Harvey Norman can clear a lot of that for you, for a price! Maybe also ask them to disable the screen timer.
You might also find that on initial start up you HAVE to link it to an account.
If it's for personal use it's not too much of an issue, but if it's for shared use it can be.

The Samsung's have proven in our Club to be very stable, and placed in a custom box, are readable in all conditions.

If you set up a club Gmail account, set all the tablets on that samsung/google account, and it's a simple process to remove all the non required apps. Leave chrome as the only app on the front screen.
