Had a look through a March scope the other day an was impressed at the clarity, just wondered what people with them thought in general, what they are like to use ? Chop.

My 40x with 1/16moa dot works very well, extremely well made, but in hindsight I would prefer a 3/32moa dot that is now on offer, and there are a few of the variables (36x-55x) kicking around in BR now too, so they must be pretty good.

Locally in the BR game they have seriously taken off. It seems every 2nd rifle now uses on on the firng line and it would appear to be making a difference in scores too. Whether it is a mechanical thing or just a confidence boost remains to be seen, but it seems to make a difference to the shooter in BR.

Will it make a difference in F class..............mmmmm......probably is my guess!

Given the number of scopes I've personally seen fail during BR matches, it's only a matter of time before ANY scope fails, regardless of manufacturer, I mean, nearly every BR shooter I know has a spare scope pre-zero'd for his rifle.

And I've seen plenty of F class shooters spit shots all over the place in competition and wondered if the scope was faulty. Simply because my shots were not - mine were nicely grouping away pretty much on call.

Also if the scope is a little bit dodgey it lulls you into perservering with it and this can use a LOT of barrel life before the cause is correctly identified. So add some cost for barrel life and a March seems that little bit cheaper, especially if the Aussie dollar is as high as it is now, I was lucky and got mine when it was worth $0.96US. If the aussie drops more then it will be even harder to justify than it is now............and I know I could not have afforded the scope at the current exchange rate.

Thanks Ned, i have had no problems with my N/force scopes they have been good to me, and i love the warranty that comes with them, ime not a tight arse but i might consider one later, maybe, ive only looked at one and have only heard of them not long ago , what warranty do they have and where would they be seviced if need be ? , Chop.

Chop, I agree with Ned. It is a confidence thing. I don't shoot SR BR but know scope performance is critical in that game.

In F class it is much the same. I am using a 10-60x March. I use mine on 30x all the time. Optics are brilliant. I got the fine cross with 3/32" dot. It is perfect for my eyes.

I still have NSX scopes and still like using them. The March is a step up from the Nightforce especially when mirage is present. It does not "eliminate mirage" (nor should it) but the resolution makes aiming a little easier for me.

Just a personal thing I guess. We get heaps of mirage at our range so shooting on powers above 30x is difficult.

At 30x the depth of field is much better than at high power. Last weekend we shot 600yds with very little mirage for a change. With the March on 30x the small patches we use were clearly visible on the target.

Ok then Barry just one question, Ned give him an answer so we can get on with the March scope thing,

Speak to BRT, I think the warranty has changed and is now much longer.
I have the 1/16 dot in mine and like Ned would go to the 3/32 if buying again, like I have said before they a step up from N/F.
A member of my club has just purchased the 8-80 will be interested to see how much better the 34mm tube and 56 objective is.

I bought my March just for the reliability, not for the optics, as all I need to do is see the spotting disk, and mirage. I had a bit a fun with my March about a month ago though. At an F Class shoot in Brisbane last month, at 1000yds, just after the rain stopped and conditions were very clear, I was able to see bullet holes in the spotting disk at 1000yds. I wouldnt see them in the paper, but as I was shooting I saw 8-9 holes gradualy appear in the orange disk.
I dont normaly shoot at very high power, but after I finished shooting I cranked it up and gave some other shooters a quick look through the scope before I left.. This sort of clarity is not needed in F class, but it was fun to be able to see my hits at 1000yds. Now that things are heating up and dusty around here, I would be lucky to see holes at 500yds though, so for most occaisions the clarity is wasted.
