from all my dealings with them for work ammo,holsters etc i would have to agree with Alan but for the convenience of being an importer and central to my working area it could cost more traveling to get a cheaper price.

I'm mainly talking about Norma brass. I saw some there that was more than double Lapua price elsewhere at the time, and I think Lapua is better regarded.

Maybe Parabellum is generally expensive, but I didn't look at other prices.

when I was turning some norma ppc brass for a mate, I found it incredibly soft and prone to galling on the turner mandrel. A real PITA to use. I've never seen lapua brass do that.

I cant recall how it went for him but, I think he eventually went to lapua brass as I'd suspect it would have been way to soft for high pressure BR loads.

Either way, I've personally used Lapau 220 russian (6ppc), 223, 6.5x47 and I wont be going elsewhere if I can help it and would selcect a cartridge based on lapua brass being made for it.

I purchased 200 Norma 300WSM cases earlier this year, yes, I am still paying off the bank loan for it.
I had to neck turn the lot and I had no troubles with galling etc, the cases did weight batch into 3 lots and they are some what heavier than the Win brass I started with, so loads had to be reduced.
I am very happy with the Norma brass so far. I was alarmed though, when I was told it is very soft. May be the soft brass was from a incorect anealing process, ya know, Friday arvo, Monday morning stuff.

um I should qualify my last post, the ppc brass I turned was well over 8 years ago. Today Norma's brass may well be a different alloy or their manufacturung processes and heat treatment may have changed since then. You wont really know until they have been fired a few times and see if they stretch, need regular trimming or FLS everytime they are fired. You might not achieve the same performance as rifles using other brands of brass due to less internal volume or unable to run the same loads etc

So what you buy today may be completely different, but I'm still inclined to use what others have proven to work. For me, $$$ are hard to come by and need to be carefully spent.

i was quoted over $2 a case for 6mmBR by Vicarms. I will stick to Lapua.

What case are you after ??? I have used Norma in my 6.5 x 57AI and the cases weight and sort well BUT very soft had to run reduced velocity to keep primer pockets alive in the end went to RWS, much stronger, so unless you can only get Norma in the case you require I would suggest Lapua (cheaper) or RWS(price will be similar about $2.00 per case).

look at what has happend with the berger prices since they got the message that we went happy?!

check out the sinclair catalog and the norma brass is actually CHEAPER than lapua..

im after 300 RSAUM brass and i believe only rem, norma and nosler make it? nosler brass is very expensive and very very soft apparently i would rather spend the extra money than spend my "spare" time cleaning up rough brass and having to keep track of differnt weights ect. that being said i dont want to be ripped of or have gapeing primer pockets eigther! haha

If you look at the cost per shot of all the consumables we use, powder, projectiles, barrels etc., then I suppose brass, if you can get plenty of firings out of it, is one of the lesser evils. So if you have to double the price of it, it may only raise your cost per shot by a few a cents. Hope that makes you feel better .
