Who makes Fluted Bolts?

Post by Eicharsto »

I have a Savage 12 and recently came across the Shootersupply website (Savage Biased website) and noticed their ultracool Fluted Bolts.

As usual they wont export from the US, so was wondering if anyone knows who in Aus actually does this process?

I know Barrel makers probably would, but has anyone actually had this done?

I would rather have my fluted bolts unfluted. The flutes gather dust and rust.

It does sort of make a silk ho' outa a sow's ear........

I would be concerned about what movement would occur to a bolt that was machined in this manner after final factory finish - even a Savage with a floating bolt head. Heck, isn't blueprinting actions all about removing the intolerances brought about by perfunctory original manufacture? Why would you want to add to that?

yeah... but how good does it look... :D

I am "anal" enough to clean inside the flutes. When it looks good I feel good...when I feel good...I shoot good.

If you know someone in the States they will post to the address and you can pay from here. I've just got some prices to convert my .223 to 22-250.
