I used it with Lapua Scenar 139gr bullets with ok results. The accuracy was good but the ES=25 and SD=10.5 a little higher than I got using 2208.
I got 3040fps with 42.0gr of RL17 without getting any pressure signs. I dropped this load to 41.7gr without noticing any loss of accuracy. I discovered thru searching the web that RL17 increases in velocity by 1.4fps/degree C. That increase with temperature is supposedly not too bad for double based powders.
Bruce raises an interesting point about throat erosion as I have read others saying this has happened to them when using this powder. I have no facts to support this statement made by others but if anyone can provide info on if this is true or false I would like to hear from them.
There is no doubt that this powder puts the little 6.5x47L in company with the big bad 6.5x284 for velocity and accuracy. Maybe it will wear at the same rate as well but we need some input from people who have shot out a barrel using this powder for those results to come in.

re-17
hi,i have tried 2209 - 2208- re15 with very mixed results . sorry have not tried re 17 as i was told re 15 was THE best powder for the 6.5x47 . 2209 was not too bad around 8mm 5 shot groups @ 100 y , when i tried 2208 all i got was major pressure signs - sticky bolt - bad groups . im still working on a load with re 15 , so far have only managed a 7.10 mm group @ 100 y . im just about ready to give up on this cal & go back to my 308 . would loved to stuck to 2208 as its easy to get & cheap but way too much pressure with my rifle . ALL loads are using 123 lapua scennar,s.

Thanks fellas, ive tried so far 123 gn smk with loads from 37 to 39 grains of rl 15 cci 450 primers with very good results group wise at 100m with the sweet spot being 38.5 gns . This put 5 shots into .250 inch but i havent run it over the chrony yet. 139 gn scenars were not as tight with 37 and 37.5 gns of the same powder but more testing to do yet. I might try rl 17 with the 139 gn bullets now . Would like to try 130 bergers but carnt find any. Rifle is built on barnard model p action , trueflite 30 inch extra heavy varmint ultra match barrel,1in 8.5 twist with v block. Mastin f class stock , barnard 25 moa tapered base all work done by phill Mastin. Thanks for the replies fellas . Cheers Mick.
