twist for 308

the1/13 twist used by most 308 shooters was established as optimum for the old 155 gn palma bullet.
it is known that this bullet gives better accuracy at closer ranges with a slower twist, 13" being optimum for palma ranges at about 2950 to 3000 fps.
the newer sierra and the dyer are i think longer than the old sierra.
does this mean that a slightly faster twist, maybe 12.5" or even 12" would suit the longs, with maybe a 14"' twist would be better at the shorts.
knowing that minimum necessary stablization promotes accuracy and improves b.c., could it be worth the modern fstd shooter running a 308 switchbarrel with two twists.
some of these shooters and guns are getting pretty good now. it would be interesting to know.

Bruce,

There have been more than one well-credentialled TR shooter running the HBCs with 10 twist barrels & quite a number with 12 twist.

I suspect that it's getting into angels on a pinhead to worry about twist too much.

On the other hand, I'm coming to the opinion that mosts barrels are too tight. I'm currently using a Maddco because his was the largest bore I could get when I replaced my 300/308 Kreiger that's still at the attention ready to go back into service after 4800 rounds of sub ½MOA work.
