F Open will be at Cessnock Prize shoot 1 May

Post by RDavies »

Cessnock Prize shoot will be next weekend on Sunday 1 May.
As well as F std and Target Rifle, they will be having F Open this year.
Interest levels will dictate whether they continue to hold events for us funny cartridge shooters.
F std will have A and B grade.

The course of fire is 2x 500yds and 1x 600yds

At this stage i'm just looking forward to actually shooting...

We've been rained out in Sydney 2 Saturdays in a row and todays ANZAC shoot is probably going to go the same way :(

Cessnock doesnt do bad weather, we leave that for lesser clubs.
Bad weather at Cessnock means the flags are at 45 degrees and you have to click more than 2 moa.
(Well apart from recent club shoots and previous Prize shoots)

Latest forecast is for fine weather with light winds and partly cloudy. When conditions are like this at Cessnock, high scores are the norm. There are 3 shooters who have just built up new F Open guns who got 60.8 today.

Those who didnt attend missed a great day of shooting. Perfect weather, with light but variable conditions through the day, with no one getting the perect conditions all the way through.
Winners of the day were
Mark Thurtell ,Target Rifle
F std A Grade Matt Paroz
Dean Thrower (Dean029) won F std B grade
Bob Eager won F Open with a 6 Dasher

The smaller 6mms and 6BR wildcats were the most prominent, with 6x47s and 6.5x55IMP also up there.

Rod, please pass on my "well done" to the members of Cessnock RC. The range was a "picture", the organisation "spot on" and the lunch was excellent. A very enjoyable day, and I plan to be back next year.

Regards, Rob Eager
