Barrel steel and heat treatment probable culprit at this stage. You've probably got another .060" of accuracy if you jump and that'll take you to 2000 rounds seeing work hardening hasn't set in... I don't mind burning steel if the accuracy holds up. I read somewhere once that the bloke who ran second didn't mind because his barrel shows little wear. Keep them coming Bruce, I enjoy your sense of humour.

i am starting to come to the conclusion that about 0.060 loss is about the time for a rechamber which will only need the threads removed (approx 1").
of course this was impractical when using a 6.5/284 unless you did it yourself and were so equipped.
barrels are like bullets, powder, and primers, expendible items, and must be regarded in that light.
of course we all know that they do however last longer on stolle actions.
