As result of the FCASA AGM held over the Queens shoot weekend
I am asking for expressions of interest from anyone that would be willing to participate if we included F/TR competition in the 2012 Queens.
ICFRA rules applied.

Is there any body shooting f/tr to the letter of the rules at club level or any level in OZ yet.

There are people who have adapted rifles to fit the rules but there isn't anyone actually shooting it that I'm aware of here. From discussions I've had even in match rifle where it was adopted, there is no one taking it up. Possibly some one else will know of someone who has jumped in feet first.

Match rifle do not shoot F/TR

The match rifle guys are quite happy to have people come along and shoot F T/R just as they are happy to have people shooting F Class with them, they have included it in their match options. I'm not sure under what configuration but they certainly do have it or at least include it if anyone wishes to take up the opportunity.

Match Rifle .308 F-Class, can be shot either off a bi-pod or rest with any weight of projectile, that is why it is hard to put a true definition on what it should be called.

It is neither F-T/R or Standard.

some thoughts on ftr.
1. if it is not shot under icfra rules, it is not ftr. there have been comments that rifle weight rules should be relaxed, or projectiles should be controlled. doing either of these things would stop it being ftr.
2. it is a new discipline, and should be presented as such. this way tr shooters ( read organizing bodies) will see it as an addition as opposed to a dilution.
one of its advantages is to tap into a membership source that is currently not addressed, namely the gunshop market. fs has primarily fed on fullbore rifles and shooters and will continue to do so.
3. trying to control bullets will be self defeating, as bullet choice is one of the attractions of ftr. that said, many will opt for using nraa projectiles, so more of them will be sold, so nraa projectile sales will increase.
4. if we can get this sport going, all fullbore didisciplines will benefit from the increased membership.
5. some of the new ftr shooters could go to other disciplines just as some will leave other disciplines for ftr.

Assn. accepted a motion to trial the running of an F/TR Class during Match Rifle Events, if the
event organisers chose to do so. This is only in the trial stages and restricted to Match Rifle
events. The Rules for F/TR are the ICFRA F Class F/TR rules.

This is what I based my comment on, along with comment from local match rifle shooters that no one has yet accepted the opportunity.

Bruce /Richard, you guys see more shooters on a regular basis at Lower Light, is anyone serious enough about shooting F T/R to actually be shooting it at club or other level?

At the NSW Match Rifle Championships this year, five persons entered F/TR. As the South Australian Match Rifle organisers did not offer F/TR, instead having a hybrid Match Rifle/F/class,naturally no one shot F/TR.

and also some new members that with their factory remmy and savage f/tr rifles will fit right in I am aware of one prominent FO shooter who is going to shoot F/TR already.

why cant "gunshop buyers" run standard 155gr pills? a stock standard rem/savage/tikka/sako 308 will all shoot 155gr pills most will not stabalise or be throated for the heavy stuff.

Most will discover and this is my experience there is a trade off bigger BC sometime does not relate to accuracy and most will discover that the 155 or close to will be the best choice same with the .223 80Gr VLD's or 90Grainer will be very competitive.
More the point those that purchase this type of equipment (remmy PSP Savage F/TR and Tikka) will fit right in giving them some where to practise when they aren’t hunting.

you can use 155s if you want to.
that includes berger & lapua.
and you can point them too.
but you have to admit those 185 bergers look good.
you can even do what graham mincham is going to do, i.e. make his own flatbase & boattail long ogive bullets.

when you build your ftr rifle, i would suggest a stolle action due to weight considerations
