Mackay - NQRA Queens and F class teams

Time is drawing near and excitement is starting to build.\:D/
11 teams have entered (I believe 6 FS and 5 FO) and we are hoping for over 100 F class shooters (60+ FS and 40+FO) for the Queens. Scores being shot around the country adding to the buildup. It certainly looks like all states attending are fielding strong teams which says a lot for the progression of the sport.

I thought I might take this opportunity to put my hand out and offer any help to anyone that might need it. We are taking down a few vehicles and trailers so can manage (and do have) a bit of spare gear if required (including tents, rests, bags, mats, loading presses, scales etc).

Cheers Dave

yes dave,
it looks like the best yet.
and the sa open team has a few tricks up its sleeve.
a few not generally known technological advances are always handy in the quiver for that little edge.
and we'll also have the best pimped rifles.
and of course the use of the 6.5X47 cartridge by all members, using 140 berger vld bullets at very similar velocities will be perfect for the coach.
all new barrels, run in and proven, but fresh and ready to go.
the best shots in the state, exhaustively selected, and in a state of great practice and readiness.
a system honed to perfection in such a way it will all be habit for shooters and coach within a perfectly lubricated machine.
and a few other things we might leak bit by bit as time goes on.
good luck to the other teams.
keep safe,
bruce.

G day Dave

You are very generous with your offer.

A trailer of seafood would be appreciated :D

You had better have a yarn to Marty, he is having trouble finding grey trousers. He has done over all the op shops in Cairns. You know how humble and poor he is!

See you soon

Dave,

Thanks for your offer. I'll be driving so unless something actually get's forgotten  , should be okay.

Looking forward to what should be a memorable event.

Bruce,

Vic will be bringing 270 Winchesters, ballistically superior to the 6.5x47...

No WA teams this year. A very poor effort from all in this state.

I did my best, but came up well and truly short.

Hey Dave,
Thanks for your generous offer, the NSW team will be seating all our rounds about 50th long, we think that by the time we get there we should only be 20th long.
So if you and the rest of the FNQ team don't mind we will drop all our ammo off at your tent so you can re seat them for us, should only be about 1,200 rounds.

Don't worry Gadget, I have a "special" press waiting here for the NSW team (and an "extra special" set of scales if you get here and decide your loads are all too hot!!). Sure, leave me with all your ammo and I will make sure they recieve that extra bit of love and care. In fact I think all the Queensland and North Queensland team would LOVE to help you out.

Bruce and Alan - you guys are overgunning it. Haven't you heard there is no wind in Mackay? High rpm projectiles will literally fall apart up here in the heat and humidity. You really should bring slow twist barrels (6PPC's tend to do well but make sure you don't run em too hot- load those 60 grainers up with some shotgun powders and keep em under 2600fps so as not to cause any fouling issues).

Linda - it is a pity. You should really be there at least personally. Will be the best gathering of potential FCWC team members in one spot for a while. - not too late yet!

Cameron - There are no grey trousers around (no one wears long pants up here c'mon) and Marty definitely won't fork out for new ones - he has checked out all op shops from here to Townsville. Next best solution we came up was to paint them on - Do you think anyone will notice??

Trust me, I know! I am juggling things here, and if it can be done, I will be there.

Doesn't help that I just had two weeks away shooting! Ahh the joys of being a shooting Mum. You guys have it so easy!

Gadget, have you thought about loading them even longer? You will have the advantage of being closer to the target.

Linda, I thank my lucky stars every day. Childbirth / Ironing / .....

Alan, you missed an important discussion item on Sunday. We have decided to run with bigger projies (8mm) as they will put bigger holes in the target. If we get them to tumble just right we're bound to get the line most times. Don't tell those guy's from SA though ;-)

Looking forward to a great time up North.

Berger 140 VLD's - recall

Bruce,

Have you heard about the recent recall of 6.5 cal Berger 140's?

There was some problem with a batch, and unfortunately they are recalling all production from the past 12 months.

You aren't using any of those are you?

Best to use another caliber just to be safe.

Cheers,

Only the RO will be able to look at our stocks. When off the mound they will be covered...

Cameron,

Who says I'm in the team.

I maybe just the orange boy :-)

All will be revealed on the day. Until then, make sure you don't have any of those dodgy Berger projies. I think there were some other calibers affected too. Just let me know what you're using, and I'll check :-)
