I was wondering if anyone could pass on their information regarding their use/experience with using Barrel Blocks.
Can they be used in conjunction with V Block action bedding or is it recommended to fully float the action? :?: :?:

Matt, have a talk to Stuart at BRT as they sell barrel blocks and have experience with them. http://www.benchrest.com.au/miscellaneo ... e-products

If I remember correctly I think Glen made one up for M. Hayseed :D so he could also help you with some info.

Matt,

I use V blocks above and below for the barrel clamp, but as Bruce says, you would normally have the action floating. You could try bedding the action as well, but I've never seen it done, which may mean its been tried unsuccessfully.

Hi
We run a number of barrel clamped rig's, and they ALL FLOAT the action, its the reason for clamping.

Graham,

Agreed that barrel clamping removes stress from action and thread, and also has a barrel stiffening effect. And I can't see any advantage clamping/bedding the action as well - more likely it would introduce problems.
