Buying an Action from the US

Hi Guys
I have heard mentioned before that it may be a false economy
buying an action from the US.
The US manufacturer lists prices of around $1200USD for the action
and our sponsor has the Australian price as $2600. Now I have had
fantastic service from Peter in the past and I certainly understand that
he is just trying to make an honest living.
However I was hoping to get one in country for around $2000.
Can anyone tell me about the experiences they have had importing and
some rough costs involved.
I guess at the very least it might make me happier parting with the $2600 if I know that importing it myself will cost around the same.

Regards

Good luck trying to import one. Recent changes by Aust. Post make near impossible. Regulation changes are listed somewhere on this site, otherwise get from Post Ofice

John, check discussion item "Restrictions by Australia Post" in General Forum. They will not handle any part related to a firearm. What's more, we have it on good authority that the goods are simply disposed of with no notice being given to either the shipper or intended receiver. Say goodbye to your $2000 or use one of the expensive freight companies that deliver direct to you.

However, I have been notified by the office of our honorable Minister for Communications that a Postal Ombudsman has now been appointed. Perhaps you could take it up with this person, otherwise, like Paul said, "good luck"and welcome to our nightmare. :(

BAX Global will ship to you. They are not prohibitively expensive, although they are more expensive than Aust Post was. Brownells and Grafs will both organise shipping with them.
