VRA Election of Councillors

Ballot papers have just been received for the election of new VRA council members.

Members who actually vote are quite few, please remember to vote this year, they must be in by the 26th of September.

Its your sport, you get out what you put in, lets really show the VRA that we are interested.

I hear two of our most recently elected council members have resigned from council. Would be great if these positions could be filled with a vote from the membership! My bet is the vacancies will be filled by VRA appointment and not a membership vote. Legally it can be done this way, but I seriously question the morals of it. Guess we'll just have to wait and see the outcome

I agree.
The "morals " of it can be dealt with by changing the constitution, which of course must be done at an annual meeting with prior notification.
One position has already been filled by council appointment, not sure about the other.
A question that needs to be asked is why so many new councillors quit after a short time --not sure I believe the reasons given.

So who resigned? We are a bit like mushrooms down this part of the state and don't get to hear much news.

Cheers

I agree Barry I hope that whoever is elected after the ballot is counted next week that they have a questioning and enquiring mind, forward thinking and have the best interests of the members at heart.

Not really sure what Barry's PM says but I probably don't fully agree with it :D .

I would be more than happy to air my grievances here Alan, but you, being what you are, with respect to politics, would probably remove it.

Danny,

Mark Sewell and John Keifer have both resigned from the VRA council during the last few months. It was sad to have lost both of them as they both so much to offer our sport. As to how their positions will be filled .........well lets say , there are differing opionions around the council table.

Mick,

Wouldn't the constitution cover that situation?

Clause 30.6 of the constitution clearly states that extra ordinary council vacancies shall be filled by council, for the remainder of the term of the councillor concerned.
This rule and any other rule can be changed providing it is done in accordance with the constitution.
