Hi All F Class shooters, it's on again and it's a great shoot. We just need to see a few more F Open participants to make it a real competition!!!
If you want to shoot 300, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900 yard ranges (10 shot matches) in one day, then this is the event to compete in.
It's a great range, with fairly true wind, and the catering is brilliant back in the big???HUGE club rooms.
Hope to see you all there.

Should be a good day. Will be good to catch up.
Cheers

Hey Danny, when are you going to realise that the real shooting begins when you move to the DARK SIDE. Open is where it is at
Richard, as we're club mates, I though't you'd be happy to loan me your TR rifle just to finish off at 900. I wonder how the 230gn Berger's will run in your barrel. You should try some for me before we get there

The 230's will fit but there will not be much room for powder in the case, so might have to use them at the shorter ranges

Sorry Mike, but my sun glasses are not dark enough yet.
Tried out the 6br last weekend, 119.10, gets to be a bit boring.
Cheers

Tried out the 6br last weekend, 119.10, gets to be a bit boring. Very Happy Very Happy
You've still got 1 point and 10 super's left to get! How can that be boring?
Danny, talk to me when you've got the rest, and I'll help you to partition the NRAA for smaller aiming marks
I notice there are a number of people reading the post, however no F Open shooters have indicated they may be coming?
If you are considering the shoot can you please post a reply, so that we can let the organisers know how big the field could be.
I know the clubs hold a number of events over 4 days, so there is quite a bit of shooting to be had if you are up for it.
I know I'll be balancing shooting vs family time, so I'm opting in for the Marathon due to it being a brilliant day's shoot!

Hi all,
I hear on the grapevine that Warrnambool has approved the use of 155 Bergers for their Summer by the sea, prior to the approval date by the NRAA.
Has anyone heard similar?
Doesn't give us much time for testing etc if that is the case.
Cheers
Danny

The following was sent out by the VRA on Monday
STOP PRESS
RE: Use of Berger Projectiles at Warrnambool prize meeting.
The executive of No.12 S.W.D.R.A. Warrnambool, Victoria have amended the conditions of the “Summer by the sea” prize meeting carnival held at the Lake Gillear Target Sports Complex, Warrnambool from the 28th-31st of December 2012.
The amendment allows the use of all .223 and .308 cal Berger Projectiles, as approved by the NRAA for use from 1st of Jan 2013.
The Berger Projectiles will be permitted for use in all events conducted throughout the “Summer by the sea” carnival.

Sure seems like you can do as you please these days.
That's a bit unfair to those people who have done the right thing and waited until legal--seems to me somebody is trying for an advantage.

Will the VRA be getting out of favour with the NRAA by not abiding by the rules?
1st of January 2013 is pretty clear.
I don't understand why there was a requirement to bring that forward for an OPM? I could understand if they put a case forward for a Queen's event, so as to make all Queen's for that year on a level playing field.
To make an exception for 1 OPM doesn't seem right. And 1 month out from the event doesn't give people long to procure and develop loads for the new projectiles. Especially as this is a very busy month of the year.
Maybe this was a little oversight from those at the VRA. There is still time to reverse the decision to uphold the NRAA's ruling on this.

Danny / Barry, may I suggest you enter in F-Open
That has always been an even playing field.
Using Bergers in F-Standard vs Bergers in F-Open is pretty much line ball. I think we'll see this years F-Standard score jump up and push the F-Open shooters again.
Just when we (F-Open shooters) got our act together and jumped in front of Standard, they changed the F-Standard projectiles to minimise that advantage. So the scores will come closer together again

Hi Mike,
I have a couple of hundred 155.5 Bergers, have not had time to play with them yet.
Loaded a few up last night, will try them out on the weekend.
Cheers

Danny,
I expect your scores to be at least 2 points better per range at the Marathon shoot then!
So a 60 needs to be a 62! Better get working on fine tuning those projies.
Cheers.

That's a bit unfair to those people who have done the right thing and waited until legal--
Maybe the NRAA should send a representative to the prize meeting, and do some ammo testing on the day, just so that its members are complying with the "rules"?
But then it really comes down to the VRA upholding the NRAA's rules that they subscribe to.
I wonder if all SA members are aware that this event has had Berger's approved ahead of time, as it would be a rude shock. Last year the Knudson's came down from QLD, have QRA members been told of the change?
For the sake of 1 week, why not just abide by the rules?
