Got to run in my 260 improved 30 degree shoulder wildcat today. Gave it 10 shots with 120gr sierras and 45gr 2209 in lapua cases that showed no copper at all. So I had loaded up some 308 palma cased necked down with 44.5gr 2209 CCI450s and the same 120gr sierra and had a couple of hits shooting for group. Without adjusting the point of aim shot of 56 and a 58 with a few x rings each. Was holding the 6 ring easily at 500m in the calm conditions.
The results were very encouraging for run in loads and I would be more than happy to use them in a social shoot.
Brass formed very well and now I can load up my 140 bergers and give it a proper tickle next time round.

Was using sweets mate. Dont leave it in there long, but give it a quick froth up with a nylon brush to get it working then get it out of the stainless barrel.

Good news Brad. Maybe I should have jumped on the 260 band wagon too, as I've got heaps of 308 brass.
It should allow you to push the 140's at 2900+ fps, which will be just the ticket!
I'll be interested to see how your barrel life goes compared to a 6.5x47L.
Are you sure you can afford all that extra powder that you're throwing in that case
Enjoy, and when are you coming east to have a shoot. We have an event in April that you may be interested in
Cheers,
Mike.

Hi Mike probably wont be til later in the year before I get a chance to head that way. Im away in April on a fishing trip to exmouth
The idea is to get the 140's in the 2900 bracket and hopefully thats where they like it. Wish I had a better chrony to do some proper load work but once the dies arrive in the next few weeks I will be able to load some more up to test out. Yesterday was beautiful for shooting, shot a 60.3 with the 308 at 500m shooting for group and all were within the X ring if I held out to 11 oclock a bit more. Everything went between the edge of the X ring and the 6 ring at about 5 oclock but there were two 60.9's and quite few other 60's. The 260 would have got a 60 if I had of centered the group.
Will post up some pics soon of the case. I will have to neck turn about 1 thou all round off the necked down palma cases too. Got to get a 6.5mm mandrel for a mates kit for that.

Ah not yet mate, the stock has gone to the painters so its all in bits again.
Dont know about easter, I may be in Exmouth on a fishing trip still. Bit of a bugger but the SWDRA didnt seem fussed on running any f class other than standard A and B.
Going to get a mandrel turned up for the neck turner today.

Brad,
So no F-Open then? That sucks. I may not end up going then unless I have a 155gr load that works and I can get away. If F-Open was going to be there, I would have come for sure!!!

As long as they get 6 they will do it, but thats all they said. There wont be any advertising or promotion about it. But yeah trip to exmouth takes precedence over FS or FO!
