I guess that many of us got today's email about the next NQ Queens being the last at Mackay!
Does this mean that the Mt Vince range is closing?

Bob, Bruce Scott gave us a bit of a run down at the Mareeba OPM yesterday.
Apparently Mt Vince Range is being sold to the Mackay Council and as such will cease to be a military run range. This will also mean changing the safety template from a military one to one issued by Qld police. There is uncertainty over council budgets and licensing arrangements although still a great deal of hope that Mt Vince will remain a shooting range.
It was decided by NQRA council to move the NQ Queens to Townsville for 2014 for sake of certainty. Townsville has spent the last few years setting up for this scenario and will be a great place to hold the Queens.

I have booked a camp site and have my annual leave approved. I'm looking forward to having a good time at a great range.
Cheers

Thanks Dave, it is a great facility and at least it will be a Range. Here in Goulburn, we still have a range that is now shared by four clubs, including Pistol, Clay Target and SSAA.
If joint use is the future, then we must adapt and keep our Ranges Open.

Hi all,
I am just after some information regarding the NQ Queens. Having never travelled to far from home for shooting events, what are the mounds like at the Mt Vince Range. i.e. Dirt, grass, deco etc. Just want to make sure I have my bases covered as it will be a tight time frame to get there on time due to work.
Looking forward to it. Anyone else shooing F Open??
Regards
Craig.

How's your 300wm going?

Hi Steve
I will be using my 300 WSM for all the ranges. I don't have any 230 gn hybrids that are worth using.
I was going to work up a load with 210 gn VLDs but I haven't had time.
See you there.

That was great shooting by Dave Mac.
Looks like Kelvin has really lost the plot now. He thinks it's a black powder comp.
Good luck all, wish I was there.

Some very impressive shooting there. Dave Mac on fire and reaping the rewards of all those Cormorants he has despatched over the years with a bit of snap shooting !!
What a great warm up and confidence booster for those of you headed to Raton in August.
Keep those scoreboard photos coming and good luck to all in the Queens.

Saw an update at lunch time - Dave Mac has not been outside the 6 ring for 60 shots!
Last 2 x 60 with 15 Supers.
In fact with the first days lead up of 179/180 - Dave has dropped one point in 90 rounds!!!!!!!!

Fantastic effort Dave McNamara - I'm sure that's never been done - 70 shots in a row inside the 6 ring!
