Unfortunately they didnt list the scopes. I have emailed Vince to ask if he can provide that info

Can you also get the bipod list for F/TR? Cool to see McMillan A5 at the top for the F/TR stocks

equipment lists are always interesting.
possibly as few as 3 years ago, the 6.5/284 would easily have outnumbered all other chamberings combined.
what will it be in another 5 yrs?
keep safe,
bruce.

Shaun,
I can certainly try, but if they did leave scopes off the Questionnaire then I wouldnt hold much hope for Bipods. Happy to ask him the question though.
Did you read in the article online where they said
[i]The abundance of Accuracy International and McMillan
A5 stocks suggests many F/TR shooters are clearly
still in ‘sniper’ mode –
which was, after all, the original
intention when the F/TR Class was introduced ie; to
include tactical-style rifles[i]
We are going to have to keep an eye on those F T/R blokes !

Tony,
Thast very true. Wonder what stocks where on the top three scoring rifles.
I love my McM A5, but it aint a F-Class stock.

Shaun,
When I first built my BAT/Krieger rifle as a 6 x 47 Lapua about 2 years ago, I built it with a McM A5 (with all the bells and whistles) and can remember thinking that an F Class stock was the ugliest, most idiotic looking thing that I had ever seen.
Then tried F Class...got hooked.....and after some 9 months of fighting that b###ard of an A5 for 9/10 shots....you clearly know what's mean !!.....I nearly cried with joy when the replacement F Class McM stock turned up from the US in my mail box. That "cool looking" A5 nearly broke my heart, so it's now collecting dust at the back of a cupboard.

Tony, I still have my A5 on my remington 308 which I use for F-Class but I will be using a proper F-Class stock for my comp rig. My remington will be only for bush and field shooting.
I shoot F-TR spec with a ATlas Bipod so its verymuch as 'tactical' style rifle but Ive spent a good few years getting proficent at shooting it that way and its much harder to stay consistant.

The PR&T F/TR stocks look awesome!!
I wouldnt mind getting a McMillan F-Class and using that for F/TR if it had an Anschutz accessory rail in it with a F/TR bipod. Would be a good stock that could be used for Open/Std and F/TR

McMillan build there stocks to there customers order. If you want an Anschutz rail in the forend they will make it with one.
They are a very good company to deal with.
Another way around it is to buy a stock from there specials list and have it altered when it gets here, you just don't have any control of colour but you can always get it painted here as well
Cheers

My McM F Class stock came from Bruno's in Arizona, straight off the shelf with no delay, as an "un-inletted" or flat top. It cost about $450-00 landed and was here in ten days. Color choice at the time was limited, but i was happy with the 80/20 marble that i chose.
It's pretty simple to have a full or partial rail fitted here in Australia by whomever does your inletting and bedding.
Sorry..edited...it was $431-00 + $65-00 frt = $496-00 deliverd.

Cheers guys. I know I can get one order with it. Its what I will probably do for my F-Std/F-Open/F-TR rifle in a bit.

Reply from Vince Bottomley
Hi Anthony,
We are continuing to work on the app. It has been an expensive (£6500) and largely futile effort but we are amateurs - trying to work in a professional world!
Unfortunately, our 'equipment' survey was very poor - thanks to the wrong questions being asked or left out - no info on scopes, bullets, powder or brass. I'll do it myself for this year.
Bi-pods? Lots of good stuff about - depending on weight and we have covered most of them in Target Shooter.
The Canadian Mystic Precision is an excellent support at only 12 ounces. The Third Eye bi-pod is about the best available - if you can take the weight - about 26 ounces. The latest is of course the SEB J-pod - which you can read about in the latest issue of TS.
If you want any more info on any particular one - or you want to buy one - let me know.
Cheers
Vince
Oh well, there is always next time ! I did a bit of am equipment list at Brisbane Queens last August, and it certainly takes time to gather the data and then put into some sort of format that makes sense.
With some shooters, just getting the info was like pulling teeth, but the real pro's happily and quickly gave full details, which made it a pleasure to be gathering the data.
What we need is a standard form that F Class shooters undertook to willingly fill in every time they compete in Queens event, or maybe even at OPMs as well. Maybe our esteemed Webmaster might have some ideas tucked away ? If we had some sort of National F Class controlling body, they could easily make it mandatory to hand over the Equipment information, one would think, but somebody still has to collect and collate it.
And is it something that needs to be up online with event results........... Or will local Equipment Lists still be of interest a week or four down the track if that's how long it takes for the info to be collated properly ? I have a snaking suspiscion that most people would be far more interested if it was available with the event results. Or not ?
As you can probably tell, I have personally got a strong interest in knowing what everyone is using, but I am a real newbie. What about you seasoned shooters........is it worth pursuing the info

Agree Tony. As an F Open shooter I like to know what gear is being used. It is not about buying success because that cannot happen.
Part of F Open is about innovation so what you suggest makes sense.
Cheers

Tony, Cameron,
Our discontinued F-Open Possibles page shows the sort of thing you might be talking about (see
HERE).
I usually list calibres in the Events forum if I'm at a Queens, and don't remember anyone holding back ever. If it wasn't such a chore I'd like to do scopes, actions, stocks etc. as well, but at a Queens my time is valuable, and it would undoubtedly eat into into it. It wouldn't be hard for me to publish it on the forum along with the results. But I think it would be nigh on impossible to get the cooperation needed to provide complete lists. It would be a sample more than a comprehensive list. Its probably of most value to newbies. When I started out in open I resolved to take a conservative approach on everything i.e. do what most others were doing, so any equipments lists I found (mostly BR) were read enthusiastically.
If anyone wants to provide such a list for a Queens I'm happy to publish it.
Alan
