Quick question,
Do the standard 284W GO and NO GO gauges work when chambering the 284shehane? Or are there custom gauges needed?
Also is everyone running custom dies or have you tried the whidden dies?

Brad,
Yes the std 284 gauges will be okay - shoulder angle and position are the same.
I have a Redding FL die, made for Shehane and sold exclusively by scopeusout.com I believe. Also I have Wilson seater and neck sizers made with my finishing reamer.

Yep. as per Alan said re go gauges.
I did make my own dies (purchased the two reamers and blank dies from PT&G). Similar to Alan I used my finishing reamer to make a new sleeve for redding comp dies - both the seater and neck sizer (and bought a VLD seating stem/plug from Sinclair). The FL die needs its own reamer and you can buy a depriming stem from sinclairs as well for the FL die (I used the Forster replacements).
But now that Whidden makes them I would go that way (or the scopeusout option). I was hell bent on reducing runout a few years ago so loved the custom FL die that matches the chamber and in combination with a custom seating die you can produce very straight rounds - but I am less convinced nowadays and it will save you a whole heap of work and $$$.
