Does anyone have a 223 Savage f-class factory rifle that can share the projectile and load information they use.

I am not sure what the chamber is like and I have plenty of 223 loads but not sure if the factory throat is a long as the custom ones I have.

This might give some case capacity issues if the chamber is to short.
Will be arriving in about two weeks so looking to get some info so loading items can be purchased.

Thanks

Peter

I had a savage LRPV with a left port , right bolt single shot target action, fibreglass stock and 1 in 7 twist factory barrel. That rifle was amazing, at 300m, with 24.5gr of 2208 and sierra 80gr pills it would sometimes put about 9 shots on a 10cent piece (300m). It did this more than once.... but at longer ranges , say 600m or more it was not so great, so i used my 308 instead. The 223 load was not hot enough and the barrel a bit short. I also tried 90gr pills but they were less accurate. I sold it and bought a 6BR, for f open, ands still shoot my 308 in f std...

My advice is to measure your chamber and develop a nice hot load if you are going to rely on this for f std, say 25gr + of 08 or 24gr+ of 06H,. otherwise you are wasting your time at the longs. Sierra 80gr, or berger 80.5 are good pills (i am not sure if the bergers are legal now or not)

Thanks Andrew,

I run 25 and 24.8 grains of 2208 with a 80 grain nosler in my current 223 but not sure if the factory savage chamber is to short to allow this to work.
Sounds like I just wait until We see it and measure the OAL and compare on my existing one.

Thanks for your update
