ACT Queens

Post by ecomeat »

OK.... who is venturing down to this little backwater politicians town next week ?
Figured if we could make Rod Davies consume enough liquor it might put him off his game a bit but unfortunately the EagleHawk Holiday Villas and Hotel where he is staying are all sold out. That means that Fairbairn and I, and probably others, will be half a K down the road at the Capital Country Holiday Village in a cabin.......so we will have to walk home nightly after doing our best on Davies.
Fortunately John Peters accepted the massive bribe that i offered him and has managed to "accidently misplace" the couple of hundred 180 gr Berger Hybrids that Roderick was sweating on, so it looks like he will be shooting a /.22 rimfire at all ranges. Thank you, God !
Seems there will be a small contingent of Queenslanders heading down, with Kelvin Bell already packed and ready to go, and Craig McGowan turing up on Friday for the Queens itself.
Any from SA , Tassie or any Mexicans coming up ? I know Paul Deehan is trying to sneak in from Corryong under the radar but the Handicapper is already on to him.

If it helps Rod, I have some 30 year old 22lr ammo that holds a good waterline at 50 yards. :D

Will you be calling in at the range from time to time? :)

Sorry to say I'll be missing this year - first year was 2005, and have been every year since. I expect there'll be quite a few Vics there. Sounds like you're going to have ball. Watch out for that Spencer if he shoots Open. He's knows that range very well.

Don't forget to take your camera Tony :D .

Tony, I accept the Eagle Hawk challenge.

If John does somehow manage to lose my precious 180gn Bergers, no worries, my 6 Dasher and 6.5 Gertrude are now humming again.

For those coming down/up for the ACT Queens, be aware that there is major road construction (freeway) being built across Hector McIntosh Grove (the road to the range). There will usually be traffic control in place and possibly some delays crossing the road construction. If there is no traffic control, remember to look both ways when crossing as there may be fast moving heavy construction vehicles.

Cheers

The ACT 300m can be the hardest or the easiest 300 in Australia, depending on exactly when and from which end of the mound you shoot! If only we could use smoke to see the wind patterns - it would open a few eyes.

When results are available they will be HERE

Just finished a fairly cruel 500 mtrs, and now it's lunch time at the zoo.
In Open, A 59.8 at 500 means that i have got my nose in front by a point in the Agg from local ACT shooter Russel LE Maitre, (58.4 at 500) with Rod Davies a point away in third(57.4 @ 500) followed by David Groves (59-3), Mike Halloran (57.2), Mark Fairbairn (56-05) Peter Merriman (59-05), Spencer Dunstall (57-04) Ben Ferrara (59-01), Terry Sheedy (55-02), Rod Mahon (57-02)), Garry Hunt 56-02), Matt Paroz (57-07) Kelvin Bell (57-01) and Greg Warrian 53-01.

In F Standard, where it seems A and B are combined, Steve Sharp from Bungendore on 115-06 total , is just in front of Ernie Mace from Brisbane on 115-05, with 37 more in the pack chasing them.

John Baxter from Lithgow leads by 2 centers from Brisbane's Peter Schafferius and a further 86 behind them in TR
Now for the 600 to finish the day...

You have heard of horses falling at the last hurdle.............Most of you know "that" experience......pull a shot off and you just KNOW you jerked the bloody thing and you just want to crawl off the mound and quietly cry under your car ? Well I just did that, scored a 4 and it proved fatal, with the ever present Roderick Davies sitting there quietly ready to pounce. AAAAAGGHHHHHH!!!
We are pretty sure that RD is home by a point over Mark Fairbairn and myself on equal points......but the big lizard will get over me coz I finished with a 4.
So Rod with 203/210 and about 17 X's.
Fairbairn and myself on 202 with 15 X's .
Spencer Dunstall on 201-09
Ben Ferrara went back to a 6mm for the last range and just kept improving for 5th.
Anthony Pedersen on top in F Std on 199-09 from Sharp,Mace,Davis and Osborn.

Back again tomorrow at 600, 700 and 800 meters
