Am new to the sport, presently I am using Lapua 308 brass which I am very happy with ( using cci lr primers ).

Whilst shopping for new brass, I noticed the Palma Lapua brass, which appears to have small rifle primer.

Is this a preference thing, what have you guys/gals experienced when using either/both,,,,,,, snake oil ?.

Cheers

I have used both. The small primer Lapua brass is used by nearly all top FS shooters here in WA. Its accurate as hell. Very strong aswell and handles higher pressure better as its got more metal at the case head. Worth every dollar for it.

Josh,

Have a good gunsmith look at your bolt-face first. Sometimes the firing pin hole needs some attention for the small primers.

G'day Josh - for your application I would stick with the brass you have. There is nothing wrong with the Lapua large rifle brass. The only real advantage I have found with the small rifle brass is its strength and hence you can really push the 2206H loads for 1000 yard work. I use them but in all my testing I could not find a difference in velocity spread nor accuracy - just max load before pressure signs. This might just hold the 155's together better at 1000 (????) to make a little difference but I doubt it would be worthwhile spending the coin for a while at least.
