The 308 might be a better proposition in windy conditions if you like 30 cal...

I think Rod Davies has been known to use a 6PPC for calm conditions at 300yd FO before. I suppose the 30BR could be used if you wanted to, but the 6BR/BRX/dasher are more than accurate enough to shoot 60.10's with very mild recoil and shoot higher BC bullets than what a 30BR could realistically shoot. A 30BR would have to shoot something like a 168 VLD around 2800-300fps to be around the same drift as a 6BR/Dasher/BR on paper anyway. But it seems as though it does that velocity with 110-125gr bullets. Of course you can try it and still get good hits if you steer it right. But the BR and even the 6.5x47L has the short ranges in FO covered.

I have a 30BR and it's the most accurate thing I own. Shot a 120.15 at 300m a few weeks back. It's capable of 60.10 but to this point I am not. In the hands of a Jedi Knight who is strong with the force (in wind reading), it would be very capable to 500m...but not ideal. Yes the Dasher/BR can shoot higher BC bullets accurately enough for great scores at all ranges but I think the 30BR is awesome to 300-400m. My chamber is the 30 BR Robinette and I have a 1:18" twist Lilja barrel shooting 118gr Copperhead projectiles.
I'm not trying to convince anyone that the 30BR is ideal for F Class but if you are after a super fun 300m gun that is soooo easy to tune then go for it. You won't be sorry.

I have thought about i but I was going to go the other way, fast twist and 208-240gr projies.

On the 6mmbr site they gave it a big thumbs up saying it dominated the 2-300yd

Seddo I have a Robinette reamer and gauges here if you need it.

It's the chambering of choice for benchrest score shooting because it leaves great big holes in the target making it easier to touch lines for best edge scoring. From what I've seen it can hold its own against PPC's and BR's but in no way is it the best option for F Class. Having said that I would never give mine away, and I'm looking forward to another 7000 rounds of trying to crack a 120.20.

Ream it out to magnum case capacity and try some 185gr BIB projectiles in a long, slow 1:17" twist barrel and you will go all the way to 1000m.

BIB are certainly a very well regarded bullet in long range BR. But I dont think a 1/17 twist is going to stabalise any 185gn 30cal bullet.

I did try a 1/15 twist 30 cal barrel for 500 meter BR - kind of a magnum version of a 30BR . Was not a successful experiment, as slower twist barrels with heavier bullets proved to be better in most conditions encountered.

I believe the best use of the BR case for 300 yards or greater is the 6BR.

Not sure if Jeff Rogers is a member a.JR on here, but he was using 185gr BIB's at 1000BR matches up north.
