2014 Long Range F-Class Teams Invitation - South Australia

South Australia (Lower Light Rifle Range) will be host to the 2014 Long Range F-Class Teams (F-Open).
This event is shot in conjunction with the Match Rifle Nationals, which will be held directly after the SARA Queens Series in October later this year.

The first F-Open Long Range F-Class Teams event was held in Coonabarabran in 2013, with SA, Vic & NSW in attendance.
The teams consisted of 3 x Shooters and a Coach, with the following matches being shot.
Vic Match - 1100yds - 16 Shots (No Sighters)
NSW Match - 1000-1100 & 1200yds - 17 Shots (2 sighters/15 to count)
SA Match - Aggregate of Vic & NSW Matches

There is some consideration to increasing the number of shooters for this event to 4 + Coach, however this will depend on interest shown prior to the event.

As soon as I have the shooting format in-front of me, I will post for all to see, so at this stage I can only assume that we will be shooting 900-1000 & 1100m.

The presentation dinner venue has already been pre-booked at the SA Greyhound Racing facility (Chasers Restaurant / Function Centre) at Angle Park SA.

I am of the understanding that we will have teams from SA, Victoria and NSW in attendance for this coming event and would be great if we could have representation from either WA, ACT and Queensland also.

I am happy to assist any interstate teams as much as I possibly can to attend this event.

Thanks for the pm- will ask around the traps but I was already thinking that because I would miss the WARA queens in Sept, I might look at coming over for SARA queens anyway. Will check and see who I can scare into shooting 1200yds and get back to you shortly

SARA have called for nominations for coach & shooters for the SA team.
It looks as though we will have a minimum of ten F-Open shooters to choose from, for three positions.
Trials are going to be interesting to say the least.....

What about changing the rules in the interest of creating more competition experience for everyone. Why not allow "mixed teams" like the US National teams. They can be state based or not. Then SA could put in 2-3 teams and we might be able to make a joint QRA, NQRA team etc

The rules for "F" teams in Match Rifle allow for five members.....any three can shoot at any range 10/11/12 or in SA 9/10/1100 metres. State teams who can't fill a team can "borrow" from another State. Providing targets are available, second teams may be permitted to shoot "alongside".
Match Rifle is all about participation.

Greg, I have to slightly amend your post here. I know we are shooting alongside Match Rifle at present, though we do have our own identity.
We are shooting (Long Range F-Class). This is a NRAA approved discipline. There will be NRAA medallions/trophy's up for grabs, as per the current F-Class National teams events.
There will not be any second state teams shooting from any states, competing in the Long Range F-Class State Teams event.
This will be the second year this event has been shot for aggregate trophy's, and we hope we can attract a few other states who were not in attendance in Coonabarabran in 2013.
There is a lot of chatter on this forum, wanting long range shoots, well here it is. You will have the chance of 4 x days of individual shooting from 900-1100m at the Australian Long Range F-Class Nationals, then a full day of National Team shooting.
You only need three shooters and a coach to be a part of this event, and will need the appropriate backing from your state rifle association, as per current national f-class teams events.

Jasmay, at this stage the Long Range F-Class National Teams Event is for all rifles who can fit into the F-Open rules (SSR's), though there is some discussion at present to include F-TR into the Australian Championships as its own identity.
In Coonabarabran, F-TR was shot in the Australian Championships as an amalgamated class with F-MR/F-TR.
At this stage, F-Open is the only class listed for Nationals Long-Range F-Class State Team Matches.
I'm sure in time this may well change to include F-TR in its own class, as it deserves..

It would be awesome to see a team from Queensland and the West participating in the Long Range National Teams.

I am certain the teams already participating in this fledgling discipline would welcome further competition.

If the Long Range F-Class Nationals and Teams events were held separate to the Match Rifle events it would be more attractive to participants.
With the present time table, anyone who wants to shoot in the S.A. Queens and also the Long Range F-Class Nationals or Teams must dedicate a huge amount of time. This is just not practical to most people who work.
If the Long Range F-Class Nationals was held as a separate event to the Match rifle Nationals then it could be condensed and run over fewer days and held closer to the Queens.

Unfortunately Norm that the way it is. There are several of us in the same predicament who would like to shoot both events but are time poor, therefore we have to choose which event to shoot.

For myself it will be the Long Range Nationals. That week of shooting we had up at Coona was got me hooked!
