Thought some of you guys may have some experience they might like to share . I acquired some nickel plated winchester 280 Rem brass, that I want to fire form to Ackley Improved . My question is will it neck size and fire form OK ? also wondering what case life is like ?

Cheers ,
Bj

I can't comment on life yet, or fire forming, but my 223 stuff neck sizes fine.

I can advise that tumbling in stainless media might not be the best idea. It tends to chip the nickel. Not only does it look shit, but bits of nickel won't do your barrel a whole lot of good if they get in there.

do not waste your time or money the nickel wont stretch when you AI the case just flake of, it cant even handle being necked up..

I know its not the same brand but I have used Nickel plated Remington in my Hunting guns for years and have never had a problem. I have them in 300Win Mag and 22-250 Ackley. I have fire formed over 400 cases for the 22-250 ackely and never lost a case forming !! I have some that have done 25+ reloads and are still fine!!

I purchased these as they where advertised as Brass ,when they turned up they where obviously nickel plated. Rang them and sent them back for a refund . Don't particularly want run them in a new tight neck match barrel or put them through my dies may be ok in a hunting rifle but not going to chance it . Read a bit about it on the net and there seems to be mixed opinions on the subject .
Really appreciate the advise guys

Cheers ,
Bj

From what I read somewhere at some time apologies for the vagary
I wouldn’t be using it from memory something to do with marking the chamber and or reloading dies I think it was design as a once only use product the report was not at all glowing for the plated stuff
