Following is the Equipment used in F Open recently.
"P" after the bullet means "Pointed"
A couple are a bit short on detail, but the rest are whatever i was told verbally.

Cam and Julie McEwan both shot Sunday only, and both used Shehanes, so that would have been 7 Shehanes on the mound at 1000 yards, and 9 x straight 284s.
Lowell Tillack smoked the field for the first two days with his 6 Dasher, but got smashed with his 6.5 x 284.......he's a quick learner and starts breaking in his first 284 Win tomorrow

Tony , Cam was toting a new gun that I hadn't seen. I didn't ask him but I have a sneaking suspicion that it may have been the Saum!

Still amazing shooting from him as he has only competed in the premier cup /Dddr Champ of Champ and 1 800 yd club shoot this year ! I'm his biggest fan so yep , he is the Master! Julie not too far behind too! ( I'm a little biased lol!). Graham.

Thanks Tony. Great work. There's no doubt about the popularity of 2209 powder, and by the look of the 284 velocities, brass sales will surge :D. That 7 WSSM of Brett Bunyan looks very interesting - must have capacity similar to a 284 to get 2900fps, or is it because it can stand more pressure with the magnum case head.

I wonder if a Queens in F Open has been won with a repeater action before this ? Craig has certainly exposed a bit of a myth that I had read many times about the inherent weakness of a repeater.
I did a quick bit of curious research, and found that the actions used by GA Precision are made by Glen Harrison of Defiance Machine Corp ........who used to own Nesika. Obviously the quality is up a notch or ten, compared to your average factory bolt action.

Tony, Craig's using a barrel block to mount and support the barrelled action, so the actions really only providing a means of holding the bolt closed. I can't see any reason why it wouldn't be just as accurate, strong or reliable as a single shot in this case.

Tony, I think Craig's rifle has a barrel block. This takes away all the stress associated with supporting a heavy barrel.

Denis, you beat me :)

Yep the action on a barrel block rifle is nothing more than a firing mechanism. It can be pretty much any old thing. Anyone got a photo- craig? Be interested to see it.

Hi Tony

Thanks for going to the effort of compiling this. Its great to see this information for F Class.

Just one suggestion for any future information you compile - it would be great to also list gunsmith for the rifle.

Fergus, it's all a matter of available time, during a shoot ! A lot of shooters did actually volunteer that info , and it's clear that many want to give their "smith" a plug, but my bloody printer had let me down over the Queens and i couldn't print off the Questionaire form that Tim Nugent and I devised for last years QRA event......so I was winging it, just hastily scrawling down answers that were never in the same order from shooter to shooter
Barrel twist is another one that interests some people.
If Tim can be conned into helping me again, we will try and get more complete info at the QRA Queens next month.
I sincerely wish that F Class shooters could be trained into total cooperation like you BR guys have, where giving your full Equipment details are a standard part of your entry system as I understand it.
Most shooters happily cooperate with their details when asked, but most actually wait to BE asked and when I am not staying on the range I really only have that time between ranges to get a handful each break.
Hey !!! Maybe I could blame that "being busy" for crashing and burning at 1000 yards when the wind changed from 3 o'clock to a fishtail. When we lay down I was sitting Third, two points behind leader Brent Noble, with just the x count separating Bob Pedersen, from me, then Craig and Rod. My 51-1 saw me slip to 6th    . As I got up, I told Kelvin Bell that I needed a hanky and a hug, but he offered me a used ,"pre-cried in tissue" and no hug.
I guess that is what keeps us coming back for more punishment . :D
Mr Nugent are you heading up to the QRA Queens ? Can I publicly pursue into helping again ?

Tony,

Many hands make light work. Can I suggest a team of people to do it at the QRA Queens? After we know the entry list on Queens day 1, we could divide it up amongst 3 or 4 of us (I can be one of them). We can have the form columns decided prior to the event, here on the forum perhaps?

Alan

That sounds like a good plan, Alan.
I will email you the spreadsheet that Tim and I came up with last year for F Open.
We also asked about :
Gunsmith
Jump or Jam
Front rest

If FTR have any interest, perhaps a couple of FTR shooters could put their hands up to collect and collate the info ? Maybe they would be specifically interested in "Bipod Type"

Similiarly F Std. It's hard to believe that no one is interested to know the Equipment detail of the others shooters whom you compete with :?: :?:

Tony,

Quiet confidence gained through learning, and sharing raises the bar for everyone, and increases their involvement so there’s more than one winner. What you are doing is contributing more cement to the future of the sport by providing the information which will help others. When you do win, your ecstasy will be greater because the win will be celebrated by many. Its more important to belong than to be alone, even if you do win.

A bloke once said, “You can never make this donkey cry.” Another bloke said, “I bet I can”. He whispered in the donkey’s ear, “My old fella is really bigger than yours”, being quietly confident. The donkey laughed hard until the bloke showed him, then the donkey cried. More power to you. David. :D
