Leave the dasher at home? No 300m for ACT Queens

Hi All,
Just noticed the upcoming ACT queens has 500m as the shortest range and a couple of 15 shot matches.
I have often thought the 300m range is almost a separate comp to the other ranges with the smaller calibers often giving better X counts.
The new format might be better for the "one gun shooter".
I prefer shooting the longer ranges and the 15 shot matches are an added challenge, I'll be looking forward to it.

Yes I noticed. Not only have they dropped the 2x 300, but they are moving back a little more all round, shooting 100m further each range on the last day. I like the new lay out with a few 15 shot matches thrown in over the 5 days.

70 shots to count for leadup and 100 for the Queens is good "bang for your buck" and compares well with other Queens. The only beef I have with the program is they are still finishing at the middle ranges. It means that the event will often be decided at the end of Queens day 2. Regarding ETs, I see they are following NSW's example - TR will use ETs and F-Class will have paid markers - good decision in my opinion. I will be attending both events - and hope to get to most Queens around Australia next calendar year.

Alan,
Maybe you should get something suitable painted onto the side of the Man-Van.
I'm sure plenty here could suggest something suitable..

I'd like to be able to call it the "X-Box", but that will depend on performances - haven't shot a Queens for nearly a year

. Might have to call it the "high fives"

.
I remember seeing an old bus with the words on the back "Please pass quietly - driver asleep"....

Alan, I couldn't resist, but if things go poorly, you may be calling it the "S Box".

Tim,
Leave the Dasher at home will probably cost you a few X's, there are a lot of 500 & 600 on programme.
I shot a 6mm the entire QRA (300-1000y) & Sydney (300-800m) Queens and was pleased with the results.
Don't get me wrong, I like 7mm & have a very good one but they are no advantage in reasonable conditions.
Canberra was won by a Dasher a couple of years back (on ya Chop).
