Hi all,
I have just gone back to 223 in f-standard and am going to be using 2206h,
since i was using palma brass in my 308 i have boxes and boxes of CCI 450 magnum primers. Has anyone used this combination in 223, and can you give me a rough idea of the load you are using. Just not sure how much to reduce the powder to scale back as an allowance for the mag primer if at all.
thanks
Matt

It has been my experience that CCI Br-4 primers give higher velocities, than CCI 450 magnum primers,in the .223 and better grouping.

+1 Mike
Exactly same results
Plus lower spreads than 450!
223 and Palma both

To answer the question on max charge, magnum primers generally do not reduce the max powder charge with 2206H by more than 5% in a .223, So less than one grain of powder for hotter loads, even less if run mild, Otherwise I agree with Shane and Mike, .
Having said that 450's, 2206H and 50 grain pills are a standard varmint load used regularly by professional shooters, the load is just to prime, fill the case with 2206H and seat but obviously this isn't a target load. Just a piece of trivia I guess.
