As you may have guessed from the title, I've been having trouble with bloody heart beat lately. Not all of the time, but of late it's becoming a lot more frequent and It's really starting to get to me. I've checked all the normal culprits for coursing this annoying problem.
Sling around bicep
Sling to tight
Can I get some more ideas of were I might be getting this from it would be appreciated.

Too much coffee/ caffeine
Do you smoke
It used to be a tight sling for me

I haven't had a smoke in 15 years, but I could have had one on Sunday after the second 600. And only breaky coffee on shooting days. I do have a milk drink for lunch so I don't eat to much. I wonder?

If all else fails, F-Class.

Hard compound slings don't help. I preferred leather, even though it had give in it.

Have you relocated the cuff around your arm lately? Bought a new coat or sling?

Is your hand in the right position so as not to pick the pulse in your thumb?

I'm using a leather cronk sling that I have been using since I started target rifle. And I have gotten a new jacket a couple of months ago with the cuff up high on my arm.

Tod , I'm gathering you mean my front hand? I wasn't aware I could get trouble from my front hand. I have been thinking about a new hand stop because of a bit of pain in my knuckles after an afternoon of shooting. The sling buckle that attaches to the hand stop rest across my first knuckle.

I agree, specially on those 40 degree days.

BTW I shot TR for a couple of years in the 1980s and guess why I gave it away - couldn't get rid of the pulse. They reckon you can beat it by consistently squeezing the trigger at the same part of the pulse cycle. I can see the logic but it would be very difficult to perfect.

Yes Scott your front hand if your rifle is in the wrong position there is can give you trouble probably not as bad as the pulse in your bicep but some thing to check.

Allen, I tried to fire on the beat on the the weekend and if you look at my scores you'll see that didn't work for me.

Tod, I think I'll try repositioning my front hand with a different hand stop and see how that goes.

I know someone (multiple queens winner)who drinks RedBull during the day without any effect. I had some pulse when shooting TR, i couldn't go near coffee at all, very little food and the right food. Some foods or fruits will effect your heart rate, I lived on yogurt and apples midday. Go to the Dr to have your BP checked. A tight sling around your upper arm isn't good plus your position needs altering perhaps. Mind control is another lesson and a major part of TR. Stop thinking too much.

Cool, thanks Geoff. Considering that I have only been shooting t/r about 18 months, it's quite possible that all of the above could be a part of whats going on.

Oh I forgot, no drinking alcohol & late nights if your serious, sex is ok though.
