Fitting a bipod to Savage F class

Just wondering how I would go about fitting a bipod to a standard savage f class stock ( 3 inch wide flat forend)?
Is a stud standard fitment for most f class bipods?
Whatever I use I want it to be removable so that I can still use the rifle off a rest.
Thanks
James

An Anschutz style accessory rail inletted into the fore end is pretty standard and meets your requirement James.

Your savage stock is the best one that savage makes, it has an accessory rail that will connect most bipods, BUT if you are shooting f-open, and these rifles are in f open calibers, then you should buy a joystick rest.

I don't shoot f class yet but my savage is 6br so I will be F open once I get sorted. I was more thinking that to by a decent coax rest I am up for a fair amount of coin and if I work out a way to fit a bipod then I can run a bipod to get me by as a much cheaper option (will probably just make my own from alloy). At the moment the rifle is also split between mucking around at the range and varmint duties (75gr vmax from a 6br is quite 'effective' on bunnies

) and a bipod will be a bit more practical for the varmint side of things.
If I put in the Anschutz rail and mounting it flush or slightly recessed will it still be fine on a set of bags?
Thanks
James

Yes. Flush mounted is the go.

This is how I ended up.
Got a friend with a mill to inlet the forend and used an Anschutz rail I bought off eBay. Sits nice and flush and seems to do the job well
