I have just had a rifle (Rem700) chambered in .223 Ackley Improved and was wondering if anyone would have any reloading data for the cartridge with Australian powders.
A fire forming load would be greatly appreciated too.

Hi ALPRO

Go to the ADI web site and pick a max load for 223 and that should get your cases fire formed.

What are you using the 223 AI for?

Thanks Pest Bird

I will try that out. I will use a 50gn projectile first up.

I am going to use it for hunting for the moment (Foxes) and see how it goes (200yds +). If it works well I might think about building an FO rifle in it.

I have heard that the SSAA reloading manual has .223AI loads, do you know anyone with one?

Cheers

There you go ALPRO, a good lot of loading information on the 223AI.
I also should have sujested to have the projectiles just touch the lands.

ADI site has the powder equivelent chart to match what is listed with ADI powders.

I do not know of any one that has a 223AI, I have a Tikka Tactical 223 , it has a 1:8 twist barrel and I use it in F Class standard with the Sierra 80gn Match Kings, it does well.

Best of luck

I have been to that site before, but was hoping to find Australian reloads before i try them. It only lists a 52grn projectiles, I suppose thats a good please to start.

I also have a .223Rem for FS and using the 80grn projectiles. Still have some testing to do, just not quite right yet.
Might have to try some 2206 or BM2 as i am not getting the result with 2208.

cheers

Hi pest bird
I have just done sone fire forming with 23.5grns of 2206 with a 63grn projectile. It worked great.

I even got a few shots touching each other.

Now to start a proper hunting load with a 50grn CT & 55grn SBT.

Thank you and AlanF for your info.

cheers
