Hello, I just wanted to see what freebore people are running for the common 6mms and 7mms, specifically interested in the 6mm 105gr hybrid in a 6x47L and the 7mm 180 vlds in a SAUM?
from what i can gather 0.220" seems like a good option for the 180 in the Saum?

Hi
For the VLD no shorter than 0.220 in the SAUM, my reamer is 0.233, it's a little long for Hybrids but about right for VLD's.
The 6 x 47 is less critical IMO as the neck is quite long, some where around the 0.105 (or even a little shorter the way they chew the throat up) mark should do the trick.

Freebore depends entirely on case neck length. The longer the neck the less critical freebore length will be. I always like my customer to supply a sample of the bullets being used when I am cutting chambers on short neck chamberings, most of my tooling allows me to cut a throat (freebore) length to suit the bullet being used. The shorter the neck length is the less flexible the throat length will be, examples of such are 223, 6mmBRX & 6mm Dasher, there are others of course.

Thanks Keith, I thought that was the case and that's why I included the two cals I'm interested in getting reamers for.
