I am thinking about buying a Bipod . My wife has started shooting F Class (open) and uses my/our gear at present. She has taken to this sport like a duck to water.
I have a lighter rifle she will be able to use and am thinking of trying a bipod. It would be much easier for her to setup than my heavy benchrest.
Just some thoughts on bipods and what and where to obtain would be appreciated.

the Harris 6-9" with pivoting (canting) option is good. I use one on my Std rifle with success. U can stiffen the canting feature so it remains stable during aiming and setup. Obviously, u dont have free recoil happening as per the BR so u may need to play around with rear bags to find the best combination. U can get them from most gunshops or even cheaper on the internet...ebay etc

They sell the F Class Bi pod for around $150?

Also there is a shooter in Vic who makes a better, bigger version with sliding feet. I can get his name and number on Sat for you. Again they are $150.

You might want to look at the Sinclair bipod http://www.sinclairintl.com/
The bipod is part#04-8200 and there are a couple of accessory rail adaptors (#HBR-6A and #HBP-6 for Anschutz rails).
The bipod is US$195 (~AU$260), so it might be a bit expensive when freight is included.

OK my take on this, I have 80mm wide Bi -pod with recoil feet, I also have BR type front rest, I shoot FT/R .308 & FO 6mm I use a 16x42 Lynx
on both rifles, I have a Nightforce 8x32, NP R2 which is overkill in most suitations.(But OH so good). The Bi-pod is as good as a rest but is harder to re-align between shots. The best out of it has been with the butpad up as high as it will go, this generates less jump?on recall. So saying we have a new guy in our club , from Canada, who shoots a Timberwolf change barrel who uses a Harris Bi-pod who can clean it from 300/800
in 6mmBR, 6.5/284 .308w .
However in my book best is a soft bag front rest and hard rear bag.
