6mm creedmor

Hi All,
With the pending sub 7mm comp in mind(possibly I will be the only participant 8)
I have a 6mm barrel on the way and have been pondering a hot 6mm for long range to compliment my 6 Dasher.
Something to drag out when it gets really rough.

Any thoughts on the 6 creedmor or a 6x47 etc

Tim I reckon 6.5mm is where it's at. Lots of choices there including the Creedmore.

A hot shooting 260AI and 140's would be my choice for long range. But for 6mm would be looking at 243AI.

6mm creedmore! Tim you are going all prs on us. I have a 6x47L and really enjoy it most of the time. It can be finicky however when it's on, it's on! I was getting around 3200fps with 105s out of a 30" barrel if you want to compare it to anything.

Yes there is alot of hype surrounding the creedmoor case and PRS does look like a lot of fun.
The reason for considering the creedmoor is that it has a bit more capacity than the 6x47 to drive the 105s to 3250.
I have heard that some get that out of the 6x47 and others don't.
Apart from that if there wasn't quality (lapua) brass available I wouldn't be looking at it.

The new 110 grain 6mm SMKs look good too if your barrel twist rate is fast enough ?

What are the 6x47L like on barrels? Do they chew them up or are they reasonable?

My experience for what it is worth is that the 6mm's once you exceed 6mm BR capacity tend to chew barrels up & spit them out!! I would say that if you were to run a 6mm X 47 to it's potential match accuracy will be on the way out by 1500 rounds the 6mm Creedmore would be as bad or worse. If you look at the ballistics it will not match a 7mm past 600 yds & barrel life is shorter, very accurate & easy to shoot though. The bigger 6mm's need to be approached with both eyes open! :) :) :)

Keith,
Thanks for the thoughts on the 6mm.
F Open has become too "standard" me thinks and probably for very logical reasons as the 180 berger is efficient etc 7mms last longer...
Time to mix it up a bit. =P~
Some are looking into lighter 7mm projies running fast
I want to explore the sub 7mm.
It only takes someone to win with something new and the buffalo run that way.
A while back the 6.5 284 was all the go, maybe I'll try one of them.
Be good to see some "odd ball" cartridges on the line.

I have a liking for the 25 cal, my first rifle was a 303/25, my current favorite hunting gun is a 257 Roberts....
How about 25 creedmoor, Roberts improved- with berger 115
Somebody stop me [-o<

If you are looking for something different, try a 22-250ai with a 1:7 barrel running 90grn projectiles.
I'm about to do this but with a 1:8 twist and 80.5 bergers . Should be interesting at the at around 3200fps.
