G'day Mal
I travel most years to the UK to compete at the Imperial Meeting in Match Rifle and previously Target Rifle. While over there earlier this year, I enquired of 2 firearms importers/dealers, to buy some H4350, which is labelled as being made in Australia. From previous enquiries I know that it is AR2209. Both dealers told me that I will no longer be able to buy H4350 in the UK as it contains some chemicals that are banned from import into Europe and thus the UK. Neither of the dealers referred to cancer causing chemicals.
Even though the UK are withdrawing from the EU, most of the European laws are being adopted by the UK, so I doubt that H4350 and Varget will ever be imported into the UK again unless ADI reformulate their range of powder.
I am only going on what I have experienced in the UK (that is non attainability) and the advice I received from dealers, not necessarily absolute fact.
Regards - Philip

I think you are referring to REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) - an EU regulation from 2006 that is supposed to be implemented fully by now. It has a wide ranging impact and prohibits any chemicals that have been proven to have any health or environmental risk.
Propellants imported/used in the UK need to be REACH compliant and this is leading to so called 'green' powders being manufactured to replace those previously used that are now non compliant.

I could not agree more. A utter load of rubbish. Next primers will have the same problem. I wonder when Aussie!!!??? greens will pick up on this and try to have it implemented here?

Non EU powder manufacturers such as ADI will need to comply with REACH for their products to be allowed into the EU. All current EU manufacturers are now compliant. Should it become a compliance issue here in Australia then ADI will have to comply or we will have to import from the EU.

A key question for powder manufacturers still wanting to supply to the EU will be whether it will be economic for them to re-formulate their powders to be EU compliant. Hodgdon is one that seems to think so - it's IMR Enduron powder is one of the 'new' ones that is imported by the EU and then sold alongside compliant others including Vhitavuori. I would expect ADI is fully across this issue and would have a plan in place, either way.

ADI have obviously been looking at reformulating their range of powders to be REACH compliant. I found a paper presented to a conference in Karlsruhe Germany in 2015.
Link below
https://www.researchgate.net/publicatio ... ERFORMANCEI hope that they are successful in their reformulation in the near future.
