my Savage 110

This is my Savage 110 in a BA chassis. I bought it 2nd hand and was in less than good condition. I have since had Allan Swan fit a new SS fluted barrel, fixed the sticky Rifle basix trigger, bought a CIP length mag to replace the modified short length one.... and clearanced the action as the BA chassis is for CIP length mags and the std 110 is not. It now has a Rifle Precision Systems bipod and a VORTEX GOLDEN EAGLE 15-60 ECR-1 reticle scope. It will shoot sub .5 MOA when I am doing the right thing which I am still working on.

Nothing wrong with a 7mm rem mag. Very accurate cartridge, in the right setup..
All the best with your F-OPEN endeavors..
Cheers
Alan

cheers mate, my best score so far was at 500yds, 10 shot 1st 11-2nd has been 120-11, not having the gear like the others probably is not helping but sure puts the pressure on me to shoot right :)

I have been using a bipod sometimes as well. Just check you are on the right target for each shot as things get a little bouncy under recoil. :)

lol yeah I have fallen into that trap.... the rifle precision bipod is very good for helping with recoil.

it's really great having some experienced shooters around me at the beaudesert range, was pointed out to me, which I was already aware of but due to the pistol grip design on my rifle to hold it comfortably my trigger finger was too far forward and wrapped around the trigger. So I got myself some epoxy type filler and crafted a filler piece to bulk it out and it has worked a charm.
Was not too concerned about the pin holes i will put on some of that adhesive felt stuff over it

500 yds today we did a 15 shot round with handicap, I was offered a proper rear bag to try today, well that sure surprised me on how much better that made me shoot...... we were asked to nominate a handicap, I said 10 going off recent form.... after a think I changed it to 5. Out of a possible 90 I scored 89-6... so I had 8 points deducted but wow I could not believe how much better it was so I bought the bag from Henk :)

have started reloading myself, tried 2209 initially but after some research decided to try the 2225, looks like this works this is 64.5g at 100m 3 shots. It really didn't like the higher powder charges at all. I tested in .1 increments 64.5-65.4

Hi Savage 7mm
Can you tell me about your fix for a sticky Rifle Basix trigger?
I have a 284 Win on a savage action with a Rifle Basix trigger and it sometimes catches ever so slightly just before release.
This generally sends the projectile slightly high.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Rob

That sounds like the overtravel screw is too tight, did you adjust it in conjunction with the safety operating? The Trigger must fall enough to allow clearance on the radius from the seat pivot, which hasn’t matched on most savage triggers I’ve seen

Thanks Rich4
I didn't touch the overtravel screw when I installed the trigger.
I will try that fix next time I'm at Silverdale.
