VIC QUEENS

Post by AlanF »

The Vic Queens is only a month away  . We had a good field last year in F-Open - hoping for same or better this year. For any inter-state shooters who might be interested, there is cheap camping on the range, with the use of a new amenities block.

Looks like no 700 or 800 yd ranges again - just the Commonwealth ranges of 300, 500, 600, 900, 1000. Queens format is 3,5,500 then 6,6,900 then 9,1000. I'm wondering if the new Open targets might be in the rules by then. If they are, I might try to make a 1000 target (have access to a B1 printer), and request that it be used instead of the modified PALMA.

Anyway, who is coming? I know of 5 Vic F-Open shooters who intend to be there - that includes 4 from my own club.

Mike - here's hoping you get a bigger field than at Tassie! I'll look forward to seeing you at Bendigo. I may actually shoot F-Std in the leadup, then Open in the Queens. If I do it will be with an original (including barrel) 44D Omark circa 1982, so probably won't be up near your end of the finishing order.

Matt,

It was great you made the effort last year. I wish more (including me) would travel as much as you do. I'm sure you'll give us plenty more opportunities to have a crack at you. I'd like to go to the SA Queens this year work permitting.

Chris,

You can get your car reasonably close to all mounds, but I prefer to use my cart. It will be particularly good this year because on all days except Thursday and Sunday, all ranges are within 100yds of each other.

Looking forward to seeing you (and the pram)!

Parking will be allowed behind all firing points at the Vic Queens. This has been posted on the VRA website, so we won't have to carry our gear too far at all.

We have just finished making the rifle case for the FSB Queens Agg winner. I hope he/she likes red colour.
Lynn was good enough to organise the white shoot-off centres for us, so we are all set to go. Thanks Lynn.

Chop,

I think there will be a reasonable field in the Queens (at least 6). However of those, myself and at least one other won't be shooting the leadup. Why not come prepared for both, and wait till last thing on Thursday morning to decide? However if I was in your shoes with the new 6x47, I'd be using it in the leadup just to get some trigger time.

Chop,

Don't be surprised to see some unexpected shooters. I would be very surprised if there's less than 5 in the leadup. I know of a few who don't look at this website who've said they might be there.
