Could someone point me in the right direction for a mirage shield ?

Prefer just a blank one, and don't want a piece of venetion blind, would rather a vinyl one.

Cannot seem to find anyone here that sells them.

Julian, visit grandma and steal a leaf out of her Venetian blinds. They work great and being white you can apply your own graphic with sticky vinal from your local printer or spray paint it or leave it au naturale.

I thought someone on here may have already done that seeing that most open shooters seem to run them in the warmer months.

Aluminium angle from Bunnings, paint the top matte black and leave the bottom polished to reflect the heat down and away.

I have been looking for a solution too...

Some thoughts: if the goal is to deflect the heat from the barrel up & away BUT we need to keep weight to a minimum then how about corflute? I notice that Brian Litz used/uses it at some stage (images online galore).

Also being an FTR fan I could mount on the scope and bipod easily.

As to using ally painted black on the top I would think that you may create issues from heat buildup from sunlight (black = light adsorption).

The average width Venetian slat might look too narrow; and flimsy; and cheap on my expensive toy!?

So cheap white corflute (or a recycled election sign ‘donated’ by a local candidate)?

We had some made up from coreflute for the FCWC.
Put on some velcro dots and away you go

I use a wide black elastic material from Spotlight similar to suspender elastic, you can buy different widths. Sew a loop in each end then make some type of hooks out of coat-hanger wire to secure onto the action and end of the barrel.

I've been using X Ray Film taped on with masking tape successfully for over 20 years. it doesn't need to be curved, its chap and in my case readily available.
Cut it to create a 1" long x 5/8" wide tabs on both ends, at the muzzle wrap the tape around the muzzle, at the breech end, tape along the barrel and under the scope. Works a treat.
I use my wifes x rays....that way she does actually go shooting with me!

Forget the sticker...nice strip of carbon fibre...where can we buy that!!
