will fclass ever be in the commonwealth games?
depends on 2 things.
will fclass shooters support it?
will the organizing body accept it?
which raises the question, what is the process to get the ball rolling?
with t.r. already there it would be a no brainer to include fclass.

The main job at the moment is to keep any shooting in the Commonwealth Games. It has always been an optional sport and at the moment it is off the list of sports for Birmingham 2022. There is a push to get it included but it may not happen. This is all shooting sports not just TR.

so peter, how does it all work?
is the commonwealth games a franchise, or do commonwealth countries have input, or other system.
adding fclass would mean more shooters, so more interest maybe.
does aust. have any input, and if so, who in oz?
surely shooting movements will not just curl up and die without some effort.
should the powers that be drop all shooting, may plague and pestilence, and a spate of boils come upon them.

Pretty simple system. Each city puts in a bid that includes the sports that they will support. Some sports such as athletics and swimming are compulsory and other sports are optional. Shooting is in the list of optional sports. For 2022 it was supposed to be Durban in South Africa who was to host the games. They backed out as they could not guarantee that they would be ready and Birmingham (amongst others) offered to take it on. Birmingham won the bid and their bid did not include shooting as a sport. My understanding is that the Commonwealth countries all have input into the decision of the host city.
All the different shooting sports are lobbying hard to get shooting back on the list for 2022 but there are no decisions to date. Birmingham says that the only venue is Bisley and that is too far away but some of the 2022 venues are in London which is further away.
This is still a live issue and I dare say that there will be a significant amount of lobbying done in April at the Gold Coast/Brisbane.

it must be an organizing body or authority.
who do the shooting sports lobby?
this body seems to have the authority to say what is compulsory or otherwise.
who in australia deals with the main body?

Still waiting to see the Biathalon from the current games...
Great to see the exiting sport of curling getting some air time

Doesn’t strike me as a sport that would benefit from it but a curling competitor is under investigation for a failed drug test.

id also like to watch the biathlon,but ive rarely seen any shooting sports,olympics or commonwealth games on tv.

Heart medication which increases blood flow. Yes I would have guessed recreational drugs too!!

Increased blood flow is important when getting your rocks off...curling wise...and it was the mixed comp with his wife...

On a serious note why don’t we ask (via state orgs) NRAA to support the proposal?

Given the fact that firearms are not ‘popular’ on the world stage right now it might be difficult to get broader support from the wider Australian population so maybe we should put all of our resources into ‘our’ upcoming World Championships?
