it has come to my attention that the nraa has different funding arrangements for fclass and tr shooters overseas.
aparrently the money is from govt coffers.
does anyone know the ins and outs of this situation?

hi bruce,
maybe you need to elaborate further.
team funding?
funding filtering down to the individual?

Bruce,

Can't comment re TR teams but I've been in overseas MR and F Class national teams and these were self-funded. I'm not sure whether the NRAA paid our entry fee for the '13 FCWC, other members of this forum might rmember.

paul,
you have been overseas.
perhaps you could list the support/funding you received as a tr shooter.
and some of the fclass guys that went to raton or canada might also respond in kind.
those 3 shoots are roughly in the same time frame.
what i heard is that there is money for tr, that fclass can't have, that fclass guys only recently found out about.
almost like it was kept secret.
keep safe,
bruce.

We are a small based sport and funding for overseas events would cost $100s on to our membership and then you would have a revolt from the grass root shooters that don't leave their home range.

not having heard back from budget on his funding as a tr shooter, i would add this.
my understanding is that nraa pays entry fees, and where this money comes from am not sure.
money calso comes from shooting australia which is in fact govt money, and is meant to assist high level competition within and outside australia.
ssaa, shotgun, pistol, nraa, and possibly other, have access to this money.
the question is how is this divided up within nraa discilpines?
does anyone have figures on this?
also any figures on actual nraa money division?
i know that fclass teams have organized sponsorship, but this has nothing to do with funding, and most of that cost the shooters money like buying cheap scopes, rather than being a cash injection.
tr shooters seem to go to ground when this subject arises which adds suspicion.
keep safe,
bruce.

From what I understand TR teams get funding through NRAA via grants that the NRAA apply for on behalf of the shooters. I THINK the funding comes from Australian Institute of sport (or similar). They justify it on the grounds that TR is a commonwealth games sport and F class isn't.

Gonna be interesting to see what happens now that shooting won't be included in the next com games.. . . . . . could be part he reason they were so vocal about us signing a petition to keep shooting in the com games?

On one hand I think it's BS that one group receive money that another don't and that more of our talented shooters don't get the opportunity to compete at the highest level. On the other hand I think self funded shooters are extremely dedicated to getting the result not having a funded holiday.

could be why they gon't seem to be fighting to get fclass in the comm games.

Hey Bruce,
From memory the nraa paid for our team comp entry fee only for F Open.

"tr shooters seem to go to ground when this subject arises which adds suspicion."

ok bruce,
i try really hard not to get emotional with some of this stuff.
you say we target shooters go to ground over these issues! we just don't complain and don't try to reinvent the wheel, we just shoot.
As far as funding goes we like everybody else get our entries paid for and that is it,we receive nada, zippo, skinner f*&*&&*&k all.
I was proud to represent my country at the highest level and funding was the last thing on my mind.
maybe you should check your source before we have yet another wedge driven between us.
keep safe,
paul

I would like to apologise to TR shooters for any inference that they are implicated in any unfair allocation of funding. As most of you will realise Bruce Moulds's attitude is not typical of F-Class shooters. Some of us may think that the NRAA needs fixing, but we have no quarrel whatsoever with TR shooters.

actually alan, it is i who should apologise, and do so unreservedly.
my choice of words was incorrect.
quite the opposite of the impression, i support tr as a discipline and wish it to prosper.
i also have godd friends who are tr shooters, and hold them in esteem as shooters.
keep safe,
bruce.

There is Government money available for those who are selected in overseas teams but generally you have to apply for it. If shooters (whether TR or F-Class) are going to sit back and wait for the gravy train then they can forget it. Start with contacting your State Sport and Rec department and then move up to Federal level. Believe me "the harder you work the luckier you get".
