Hi Gang,

Looking around for new barrel blank for a F Std. rig and it seems
the usual suspects i.e. Krieger/Bartlein etc. are almost impossible
to find, at least in the profile/twist/length I want.
Truflite, on the other hand, appear to be much easier to find so the question
is are they on the same level shooting wise as the USA made barrels.
Any real world, actual use opinions appreciated.

There's a Krieger for sale in the forsale section. 30" 1:12.
Trueflite had a few problems a couple of years back but I think those issues are now resolved. 5 years ago they were certainly heralded as one of the best in the world. I have a 1:8 6.5 that's on its second chamber and a 1:12 308 down at 28" on its third chamber. They both still tac drive.

I had one on a gun that i sold and was very impressed with it. Equal to any other barrel ive used. Cleaned and shot very well.

The trueflites I know of are all good shooters. A mate of mine used one for f standard on our last prize shoot and only dropped 1 point for the whole weekend. Like all barrel manafactures you will get good shooters with most barrels and every now and then get a hummer. Rarely you will find a dud barrel these days.

Chris, What contour do you want/are you looking for? We make pretty much anything. Just because it might not be listed on our contour pages doesn't mean we cannot do it or have not done it. Get a hold of Craig or message me with the contour you are looking for and I'll tell you if we can do it and if any extra costs. Unless it's off the wall special sometimes no extra charge.

Most standard sporter contours, match/str. taper contours etc...even though they might vary there is no extra charge.

Thinks like the Win. Pre64 sporter contour with the dog leg hump for the dovetail rear sight, the Browning Sako Safari contour, a reverse muzzle contour, some of the Gilkes Ross contours there is an extra charge for.

Bartlein Barrels

Frank, I beleive he is just alluding to a general shortage of barrels over here at the moment from the usual sources.

Hey Mick, I wasn’t sure if that’s what Chris was alluding to or not. Did cross my mind.

I know barrels amongst other things are tough for you guys to get not to mentions the prices you have to pay for all of your components that you need for shooting.

All good mate.
I didn’t notice the OP was a fellow shooter from here in the centre of Aus. We have a few guys here waiting patiently for the next influx of quality barrels so we can build a competitive team for next years teams challenge. Hopefully your Australian distributor has a few on the way.

About every 3 months Craig has a shipment going out if that helps at all.
